Stay away from this hotel

Rude since we got here and very unhelpful unless you are another nationality apart from English. Wanted to charge 5 euros each for my family to sit outside with a view. Had to shout in the end because enough is enough to actually get things done. They laugh at you as if they don’t understand you and everything is a rip of. I’m actually seeing the hotel manager tomorrow Luciano, probably get no help from him as well. Good points people in Garda are wonderful and very beautiful, just try and find somewhere else to stay.

Beautiful surroundings

I don’t think I’ve ever had so many scenery photos on my phone from just one holiday. Everyday the view and sky was different and each time was more beautiful. We booked a junior suite, it wasn’t a junior suite at all. I suspect we either got given the wrong room or they are advertising things incorrectly. Our children had to sleep on a deconstructed sofa. Our bed was just two single beds pushed together with separate single quilts which was hilarious really. The balcony had a great view of course which made it all worth while! Evening food was brilliant. Each evening we would be given a menu for the following day. You would choose a starter and a main from about 4-6 choices. The Buffett for salad was confusing. One day you can use an areA the next you had to go somewhere else. They didn’t explain at all what was going on and it did make us feel unwelcome. Especially when you get “Told off” for being in the wrong area. Breakfast was good, only scrambled eggs, bacon and pancakes as the sole hot options, plenty of fruit and cereals though. The snack bar at the pool literally served burgers and chips. Really disappointing. The pizza was on a slice of bread so we made sure to get lunch in Garda. As the shuttle runs only till 12 and starts again at 4.30 you would need to get a €12 taxi back if you want anymore pool time. I wouldn’t bother attempting getting the shuttle before 11am we once did and Waited an hour whilst rude people pushed in front etc. they need to run more shuttles. Mini club was very “mini” as in not much for the kids to do. The lady that looked after the kids was lovely and made our children feel very welcome. But the mini club isn’t a structured one where you can drop them off and go elsewhere or relax etc so no just us time. We went on the coach trip to Venice, and booked this through the lovely jet2 guide at the hotel. I would really recommend this. Also we visited Verona on the bus. Get the 162 route. Do not get the 164 route!! One thing I would stress to the hotel is the lack of understanding surrounding allergies. Normally when we go away there is clear labelling on food. And many other hotels provide suitable food. Our son has an egg allergy and all desserts contained this. We’ve been places before where they provide different desserts (Ice cream isn’t hard) and it would be brought out to us. At Poiano we would have to ask serval members of staff before they would bother with it. Towards the end of the break we figured we had to stand outside the kitchen to have a chance. For a 4 star hotel I really would expect better. Please work on this Poiano so many people have allergies and dietary requirements!

Wonderful to be back.

Wonderful to be back after the Covid gap years. Everything was still wonderful. The food is delicious, plenty of choice. The staff are still fantastic. I like the slightly staggered entry times into the dinning room it makes it more relaxing. Unlike a previous visitor I miss the the white jackets of the maitre d’s but the fact they are both brilliant is what matters. My friends and I still like to dress for dinner whilst younger visitors prefer a more casual approach. All are made welcome in the dinning room. Gentle after dinner entertainment my favourite was definitely the guitarist.
