With hundreds of bars and clubs lining the strip, expansive golden sandy beaches, and fantastic water sports, it’s easy to see the attraction for groups of mates looking for a great holiday.
If you’ve got the little ones with you then it’s a family-friendly spot too, with a water park just minutes away. There are plenty of activities for children of all ages, including spotting loggerhead turtles from a glass-bottom boat and exploring hidden coves, home to mysterious shipwrecks. It’s fun, it’s affordable, and it’s the ideal spot for a sunny, beach-based break.
Buzzing nightlife
Zante is filled with many bars and nightclubs, so you’ll find plenty that are just right for you. For those looking to make the most of life after the sun goes down, ‘The Strip’ will keep you entertained throughout the night. When you’ve partied your way down ‘The Strip’, it’ll be time to head for the beach and checkout one of the after parties that go on here.
Loggerhead turtles
Take a trip to the charming Marathonissi Island, which is the home of the loggerhead turtles (also known as the Caretta Caretta turtles). With many boat tours available, you’ll get the chance to get up close and personal with these fascinating creatures at this unspoilt beach paradise.
Relax on the beach
With just a short boat journey you’ll discover Keri and the stunning beaches and caves. If you just want to top up your tan you’re definitely in for a treat in this idyllic spot. But if you’re feeling adventurous, then pay a visit to the diving school where you’ll have the chance to explore the caves from above and below the water. With just a short introductory course, you’ll be ready to go.

By bus: Cheap, reliable and efficient buses connect Laganas to nearby towns like Zante Town on a regular basis. Buses are a good option for exploring the local area.
By taxi: The taxi rank in the town centre makes sure that taxis are readily available in Zakynthos. Taxis are ideal for airport transfers with Zakynthos Airport just 15 minutes’ drive away.
By quad bike: For a more exciting way to get around, why not hire a quad bike in Laganas? They’re surprisingly cheap and you’ll get a helmet free of charge. You’ll need a full driver’s licence to hire a bike here.
Shutdown Festival: Laganas hosts the largest urban music festival in Europe every May, with five days and nights of events. From pool parties and a VIP boat party to a line-up of international artists and DJs, this is the party event of the year!
Carnival: Every Easter the Carnival celebrations take place in almost every town and city across the island, so if you’re in Laganas at this time of year, you can’t afford to miss out! The biggest event of the year features elaborate costumes, parades, dancing and parties. Carnival usually falls in late February to early March.

Zakynthos has a Mediterranean climate, with long, hot summers that can stay in the mid-20s (°C) from May to October. The warmest months are July and August when temperatures have been known to hit 30 (°C), perfect for topping up your tan! With around 300 days of sunshine per year, the sun always seems to be shining in Laganas.
