    Geographical influences

Puerto de La Cruz is on the northern coast of Tenerife, which is one of the most westerly Canary Islands. It’s at the base of the wonderful La Orotava valley, which means it gets slightly less rain and a bit more sunshine than other towns along the northern shores. Resorts in the north have a marginally cooler and wetter climate to those in the south. This is because the wind and rain that can sometimes affect Tenerife, reaches the island from a northerly direction.

The weather in Puerto de La Cruz in July produces an average temperature of 29°C. Very often, this can go over 30°C and shouldn’t fall below 20°C on the slightly cooler days. Rainfall is extremely low in July, at just 2mm, and it’s rare to have more than a couple of days that see any rain. The sunshine levels are amazing during the month. Along with June and August, Puerto de La Cruz sees around 13 hours each day with the sun not setting until just after 9pm. The humidity level is 82% and wind speed is 13mph on average. The UV index is high so take care when you’re sunbathing or exploring the island.
