Puerto De La Cruz weather August

What’s the weather like in Puerto de La Cruz in August?

The Puerto de La Cruz weather in August is wonderful. The hot, sunny days and warm waters make it a popular time for visitors to flock to this beautiful beach resort in Tenerife. The Canary Islands have a great climate for most of the year and if you’re a  sun seeker, you’ll love the temperatures here in August.

    Geographical influences

Puerto de La Cruz is on the north coast of Tenerife, between the regions of Los Realejos and Santa Ursula. Resorts in the north have a very slightly cooler and wetter climate to those in the south, because they’re exposed to the wind and rain that can sometimes reach this Canary Island from the north. But Puerto de La Cruz is at the base of the La Orotava valley, which means it gets slightly less rain and more sunshine than towns nearby.

The weather in Puerto de La Cruz in August sees an average high temperature of 29°C during the daytime. This dips to a cool 17°C at night, which makes sleeping comfortable. Rainfall is quite rare during the month and you can expect just one day to receive very light rain. There’s definitely no need to pack your umbrella! Bring your sunglasses though, as sunshine levels are the highest of the year with a glorious 13 hours each day in Puerto de La Cruz. The days are long too, with the sun rising at 7.30am and finally setting just before 9pm at the start of the month. You can take a refreshing dip in the Atlantic as the water temperature will be around 23°C.
