Brilliant hotel but awful food
My partner and I have stayed in this hotel many times, sometimes twice a year, which was the case this year. We have always been happy and quick to recommend it to friends and family. Alas this year was different, the hotel was still lovely, the rooms beautiful and the service was excellent. The food in the restaurant was very poor. Plenty of choice but mostly frozen food, including the vegetables, it was disappointing. Even the pastries were bought in, nothing appeared to be made "jn house", such a shame. The food was also cold and not replenished fast enough, queues formed waiting for the next batch to arrive. It was just awful, the chef needs to go back to catering school! The guy on the breakfast grill was rude and looked like he had just got out of bed, not a good look for such a lovely hotel I'm not sure we go back next year, things would have to improve the restaurant standard, even the Maitra 'd looked ashamed to be witnessing this She is so lovely..
Amazing hotel - booked to return!!!
We (2 Adults – a 37- and 40-year-old married couple) stayed in this lovely hotel from 17th September to 1st October on a half board basis. We booked the hotel direct (jet2 flights separately) on the H10 website and this was an easy process, we chose to do this as the H10 hotel website normally have a discount available especially booking in advance. Check-In at the hotel was a very nice experience and the staff were lovely, husband was often down asking for things (he lost his key, so they gave us an extra one!!) and the lady on the desk would often have a laugh with him throughout the holiday even if he was just walking past reception. We arrived at the hotel about 11:30am and with check in not until 3pm our room wasn’t ready, but they did have a luggage facility which meant we could get rid of our cases and go out for some lunch in the resort. At 3pm we got the keys to our Superior Room which was located on the sixth floor (top floor). There is only a handful of rooms on the sixth floor and the rooftop pool so was a very quiet floor to have our room. The room (Room 602) itself was huge and felt very luxurious with a small seating area in front of the TV, lots of storage although the room would have benefitted from a chest of drawers. There was a fridge which was free and a TV but they only had limited channels in English, so we hardly used it. The bathroom had a shower over the bath which didn’t bother us at all although the bathroom did have a step up to the toilet which was a bit strange during the night in the dark going to the toilet. The best part of the superior room was our very large balcony with 2 sun loungers, a parasol and table and chairs on it. We had a view over the square at the front of the hotel so was a very quiet balcony which suited us. The only downside about the room was that as H10 Grand Class members we had no bathrobe and slippers which apparently, they had run out of as it was the end of the season. The food in the hotel we found delicious, and I am a fussy eater. Breakfast there was always pancakes or waffles, plenty of fresh fruit and enough cooked food to make a full English. Dinner was also tasty. Plenty of different meats available and we found the food to always be warm enough. The only comment we would make about the dinner service is trying to order a drink when you sit down, there was usually only one waiter taking drinks orders (Aldo was his name) and he was usually running around. There should probably be a better way of paying for drinks then everybody queueing at the door on the way out, other hotels have been able to process it when ordering especially if charging to the room like we do. The hotel itself we found very clean and all the staff very friendly. Viktor doing the entertainment had a very hard job as not many people wanted to join in, but my husband always tried to join in. The bar staff were very nice and often very generous with their alcohol measures but that could be that my husband always tips!! Entertainment wasn’t really our taste but the hotel in general seemed to cater for the older holidaymaker and they seemed to be enjoying the entertainment. Overall, a great Adults only hotel in the centre of Salou, only a short walk to the beach and not too far from the Them park also. We enjoyed it that much that we have booked a week in May next year and we cant wait to return.
COUPLE HOLIDAY OCTOBER 2022
Very nice clean hotel. Cocktails were superb the real MCcoy not frozen. Was a little disappointed as the hotel is not really set up for disabled people. My wife has MS and we thought we would hire a mobility scooter to get around Salou. Unfortunately Scooter are not allowed in the hotel which meant parking the scooter around the side of the hotel and getting into a wheelchair to get to the room. Lifts were quite small also so wheelchair only just fit in them. This would put me off booking here again. Also because of the location of the hotel the coach transfer dropped us on the corner of the road approx 100mtrs from hotel and we had to make our way to the hotel on our own. On our return to Reus we booked a private taxi. Also our room was directly above the restaurant so we were woken every morning at 6am with clattering of pans . Avoid room 236.
