More than just a hotel, Gold River recreates a whole town that rose up with the settlement of the first gold prospectors. This town contains various shops, a grocery store, a train station, bars, a school, wooden bungalows... and all these buildings house the rooms that make up the hotel. This hotel, located inside PortAventura Park, has unlimited access to PortAventura Park throughout the stay and 1-day access to Ferrari Land included per stay and person (according to parks opening dates and times), discount on Caribe Aquatic Park tickets, preferential booking for table service restaurants in the parks via the hotel's Guest Service Desk and Pick-Up service at PortAventura Park and Ferrari Land shops. The hotel features 3 swimming pools, a 24 hour reception service, bars, restaurant, shops and a snack bar in the pool area.

Do Not Book for this Hotel or with Jet 2 - you are on your own with any complaints!
Shambolic Experience and neither Jet 2 Rep or Jet 2 complaints will answer our complaints - Hotel Staff were dismissive from moment we arrived can only liken it to being treated like a child on a school trip and trust me was treated better on such trips as a child. Complaint lodged with Jet 2 in October, all we get are holding emails telling us our complaint is being investigated, now three months on, I am losing patience. Rip off Britain production Team will be my next port of call if no formal response received by end of January.
Not happy holidays
Was so looking forward to going to The Golden River. Having been going to the park for 20 years. We stayed at Port Adventura hotel in 2018 and had a wonderful time and our expectations were higher for the Golden River. On arrival reception worked well but due to being early our rooms were not ready so gave us tickets for the park saying contact us when rooms ready. First hurdle is leaving your luggage, bearing mind we had been waiting a couple of Spaniards were sorted before us. We were shown a room were luggage was to be left, which is locked if you want to leave bags, coats you have to pay one euro for a locker. Who has change when you first arrive. It just felt money pinching. Been said many times that theming is great. Our room had two double beds. You cannot open windows. Very few sockets also some sockets only work when you switch on light switches. Bed comfortable. Bathroom is provided with all you need. A grab rail would have been useful because we found it hard to get out of bath. Towels changed daily. We did not have our sheets changed all week.access to park is great but if you are expecting any perks for staying here forget it. The big issue for our family was meal times. I can only say it was like pigs at the troughs . You are asked to book time slots on the app, no Problem with that, what l do have an issue with is that l have paid for my meals and l expect to be able to eat at my own pace. You queued to get into dinning room taken to a table then people ran to the food. You had 40mins in the morning 60 mins in the evening then you are told 10mins to vacate. The noise is eardrum bursting. After your meal there is nothing to do. In short think before booking this hotel are you happy to be trapped in a hotel that only offers the park.
Good with some faults
We stayed 24/10 to 28/10 in a superior room in The Callaghan’s . Large room with 2 double beds and spotlessly clean. Great WIFI too!! Shower gel, shampoo and hand wash provided in bathroom with an adequate hairdrier. Again very clean and towels changed daily if required. The theming of the hotel is amazing and direct access to park. Previously stayed at Hotel Portaventura and would return there due to location. Gold river is isolated whereas we could walk to shop/ salou from HP. Gold river was a nice hotel but the dining situation is dreadful. I thought Callaghan’s had separate check in and dining hence why I booked as our son has autism and not good with crowds ( strangely he loves the theme park). . On check in we were told the separate facilities had stopped 4 years ago!!. This meant that everyone eat and congested in the city hall but. I explained my concerns to reception and a wonderful lady called Judit understood and noted the system and told us to present ahead of the queue. This is where another brilliant lady Belen escorted us to a table.. massive thanks to both we are so grateful. This brings me to the dining system.. on check in you have to book your time slot for breakfast and dinner. This is really frustrating as you don’t know how you will feel on the day. You then get 45 mins for breakfast, 1 hr for dinner with a 10 min warning from staff. Staff do really well to cope in the huge dining area! Food ok but could be warmer for our tastes. We went in school hols and hotel full so question to get in dining hall and queues for food . Another thing hotel Should consider entertainment at night , even if just music. No atmosphere to relax with a drink and too many smokers. You cannot escape them!! We had a good 4 days and hotel does what it should as a theme park hotel.. just sort the dining . Credit to hotel for Their autism awareness especially Judit and Belen is
