An accodentally discovered gem!
Awesome hotel, exceptional service, great food! The hotel staff really made us stay longer in the hotel than we planned. We wanted to visit Barcelona and other places but they had so many activities planned for each day, that we didn’t want to leave. Of course, it was helpful that we chose all-inclusive so everything (and I mean: everything!) was included. All drinks, food, ice cream…you name it. Room was great (clean, spacious, frequently checked by staff) and no noise from naughty neighbours! We could sleep without any noise! Of course, our kids were exhausted after the night activity the hotel planned EVERY DAY! There was karaoke for the kids, flamenco dance night, magician, acrobats… Wow! I applaud their persistence and energy! Kids loved their time there and want to go again! We also loved it and really…it was no hustle spending time there. Food was great every single time and they did not just offer one combination! Every day was different and every other day they had a theme ongoing: Spanish, American, English… First thing we arrived at the hotel, staff member offered us sangria. For that hot weather, this sure was a great refreshment! That and ice-cream for the kids! Swimming pools were awesome for both grownups and kids, and slides were great. Every pool had life guards at all times. Everyone of them watching closely everyone going in the pools. Even though the beach is healthier than the pool (duh!) we only went to the beach on day 4, and it is SO CLOSE! Just 2 min walk and you’re at the MEDITERANEAN SEA! Water is so clean, fish swimming around you, plenty of people around but NEVER crowded. Parking available right next to the hotel, free of charge. Amusement park every two weeks across from the hotel as well. We had a birthday during the stay and the staff made us a cake especially for us! If you want to rest and still have everything planned for your kids, visit Sorra Daurada Splash!
Standard Family Package Holiday
We travelled to Malgrat De Mar between 26th October to 3rd November during the Halloween half term holidays, the weather was lovely as always in Spain and the area around Malgrat De Mar and Costa Brava was beautiful, but let's talk about our accommodation for the week: Hotel Room and Staff - We first arrived in the evening around 7pm, checked in quick and left our clothes and bags in the room before heading to the canteen/restaurant, 2 adult and 2 children we shared a family room with 2 double beds. The room was clean with no issues with the hygiene in the building which fine so that was a great start, we had to share a balcony with 6 other rooms, one of the family's were disruptive at the end of the 1st floor a couple nights letting their kids play football whilst the adults were drinking, shouting, screaming at 1am after the bar closed so we had to report it to reception, the staff members were friendly (honourable mention to the young man with the pink eyebrow and black fingernails who was the best bar staff member, very polite and professional). Food - Breakfast was ok I gotta admit.. with the wide selections of cheese, meat, bread, fruit and pancakes which tided us over untill evening meal as we booked in half board so no lunch was included. However the evening meal was awful!! so bland and tasteless with no seasoning or any kind of flavour to add, so boring eating the same slop every night so we had 4 nights out of the hotel and dinee at the restaurants around the neighbourhood. Entertainment - It was baffling that they started up the family entertainment from 10pm to 11.30pm when it suppose to be a family hotel, most nights the kids couldn't stay awake! And the ones that were awake ran around the tables and chairs dosed up on caffeine from their free all inclusive drinks, jumping off a empty stage with no music it was like a free for all playground, absolute chaos! However the Flamenco dancing was great, very talented dancers plus the holloween celebrations and tunnel of terror was also brilliant I got to give them full credit for the event planning around Halloween weekend. Pools - the slides were closed as we visited in autumn so we knew about that, the large kids pool area was great with plenty of sun loungers and a bar, they also had a couple parrets for photoshoots with guests and a foam party. This was the best part of our stay. Overall it was average, the pools and halloween festival was the best part of our stay at the hotel.. whereas the poor food and unorganised entertainment plan brought down the rating. Furthermore I would recommend traveling to Barcelona for the full day if you get chance, theres a train station in Malgrat de Mar only around 10mins walk from the hotel, we paid around €40 return for 2 adult and 2 kids.. Plenty of attractions for everyone.
More of a 3 Star
How this hotel is 4 stars I really don’t know. Cleanliness is good, staff are nice & friendly & the splash park is great & the foam party was fab however that’s probably the only nice points I have about this place. It’s absolute chaos around the restaurant especially night time queues going past the bar, despite being all inclusive we ate at the restaurant a total of 4 times. 2 breakfast (pleasantly surprised), 1 lunch & 1 dinner - both myself & husband got really ill after having dinner there so decided to eat out from that point on. The noise is unbearable in the rooms, so many inconsiderate people running & shouting in the corridors until early hours. The entertainment is quite odd for 4 nights nothing started until 9:15 which for a kids mini disco is quite bazar. That’s about it from the entertainment side of things. Although we were there for Halloween & to be fair it was incredible but really made you realise just how much they slacked the other nights! We won’t be back however we still managed to have a lovely holiday as a family, we made the best out of a bad situation! So if your reading this worried, just take as much money with you as you can to eat out (although it’s super cheap everywhere anyways) & make the most out of not being in work
