Ocean House Costa del Sol is set in the resort of Torremolinos, famous for its sandy beaches, watersports and boutique shops. The hotel boasts five pools (one just for the kids), DJ sessions, live music performances, a gym and fitness classes. Exclusively for the adults (16+), there’s a rooftop terrace where you will find a further pool, Bali beds and a bar serving a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks.

When it’s time to eat, visit the restaurant to choose from the extensive buffet of fresh and seasonal produce. You may opt to dine inside, or on the terrace overlooking the pool. The Play Bar, with direct access to the pool and beach, offers snacks between meals, as well as refreshing beverages.

Choose whether to stay in an air conditioned Junior Suite or a Suite. They all have a terrace, shower or bath, a sofa bed and two televisions. Premium Suites boast extra space, a king size bed, rainfall shower, plus bathrobes and slippers.

The city of Malaga is under 20km away and can be reached by either car or bus. Fans of Picasso won’t want to pass on the opportunity to visit his birthplace and to see the art gallery dedicated to his work. There’s also two Moorish castles, the remains of a Roman theatre and a spectacular cathedral.

The cosmopolitan resort of Marbella lies 45km in the opposite direction. It may have developed a reputation of being a modern a-list destination, with a Golden Mile and a marina housing yachts. But don’t overlook the Old Town, dating from the 17th century, with a mix of Andalucian and Moorish styles. A day trip to Granada (140km away) is also possible, where the main draw is The Alhambra. It’s so popular that you’ll need to reserve tickets in advance.
