3night stay at temple bar

May 2022 | sharmadee2022

Temple bar hotel is located directly on what we called the temple bar strip. There is a tescos right opposite which shuts at 10pm, and bars and cafes and pubs all within the strip. The location was great as a tourist and the staff were very friendly. The beds and pillows were very comfortable - probably the best I’ve slept in hotels! The room was hot and no AC but it wasn’t a problem as we stayed in May. It does get loud especially in the evenings and on Thursday-Sunday but when you close the windows you can barely hear a noise in the room. We booked directly with the hotel which was around 120euros cheaper than booking through booking.com. We had included breakfast but never used this as we wanted to get out and explore Dublin. There is only 1 lift and you need the key card to operate it. It was slightly frustrating that the key card stopped working around 6 times during our 3 night stay but the front desk replaced these very quickly. Bars and eatery’s in temple bar are expensive as it is tourist centric but if you venture out you’ll find a pint of Guinness in Bowes bar and the best Sauvignon blanc for around 5euros. The best guiness is served in John kavanaghs pub aka the grave diggers and Bowes bar. Check out is at 11 but we thought it was 12pm and the hotel did not charge us extra for this or for the luggage hold. Overall, I’d love to stay at temple bar hotel again and it really was the best location/hotel for us, especially as it was our first time in Dublin!

Disappointing for 4 star hotel

May 2022 | Kcnchicago

I had read a lot of great reviews about this hotel and my boyfriend and I “splurged” for our last two nights in Ireland to stay here. I was beyond disappointed with it. I called the night before our arrival to request early check-in. Was told no problem! Arrived, it wasn’t in their system and there wasn’t a room ready, but they were more than willing to charge me the €50 for early check in. Waited an hour for a room, and then when we got our room we got to it and it was still being cleaned. We received a lot of dirty looks from the cleaning crew bc we thought we could just wait patiently for them to finish. Over 20 minutes later we went back down and told them the room wasn’t finished and were given room 135. No one should ever be given room 135! It is right above an alley that is ACTIVELY used by trucks and people (workers smoking and talking) ALL night. It wasn’t crowd noises, which they tried to justify, it was garbage trucks with back up beepers going at 3am! The staff was very kind and did move us to a different courtyard room after I told them how noisy our room was (I absolutely give the staff credit for being very kind!!!). They even moved our luggage for us while we were out and about the city. But then breakfasts problems. I was told by receptionist A that we had paid for breakfast for our first night and only had to pay for our breakfast for the 2nd night. Receptionist B then told me upon checking out that we still owed them money for our 1st breakfast. I had asked at least four times with receptionist A if she was 100% sure that we had paid for our 1st morning and she assured me she was correct, but apparently she wasn’t? I constantly felt like this hotel was disorganized and was trying to squeeze every penny they could out of me. I do commend the staff for being friendly and outgoing and helping us with our room problems.

Good visit!

Convenient, comfortable, very clean and pleasant accommodations, staff obliging and helpful. We picked the hotel from the internet, and weren't sure what we were going to find, but we were delighted by our stay.
