Would not class as a 4/5 star.. would say it was a 2 at a push!!
We chose this hotel as it is advertised as a family resort and pictures showed outstanding facilities however, when we arrived this was not the case. From the moment we checked in nothing was as advertised. We had booked a room with a double bed and single bed as my 2.5 year old is too big for cot. When we got into the room there was a travel cot and two single beds pushed together. The mattresses of the single beds were extremely thin to the point my partners back was on the bed frame. We complained and were told they’d put an extra layer on the bed and they could do nothing about the travel cot. The extra layer on the bed never appeared and we spent the week sharing the pushed together beds with our son. The rooms are extremely outdated and basic. The female staff on reception were miserable, barely said a word and came across rude and did multiple eye rolls when we asked for help or advice on where we could purchase certain things. The staff around the pool area and in the entertainment room at the bar however, were extremely friendly and welcoming. The pool area was an absolute shambles. There were not enough sun beds for guests and many were broken. Guests could hire sun beds and parasols however, many were broken and they had hardly any parasols so majority of guests were left without either and moved on if they tried to sit on the grass with their towels. There was no lifeguard around the pool and the pool bar which is advertised was shut the whole week. The children’s park in the pool area was extremely dangerous with pieces of wood on the floor with rusty nails sticking upwards. The climbing frame within the park was extremely run down with screws and bolts missing meaning whenever a child climbed on it, it began shaking and wobbling and looked as though it could fall down at any moment. The floor of the park was also broken and uneven causing children to trip over on multiple occasions and it was lucky there were no serious accidents. The arcade advertised as a glamorous child friendly environment was again extremely run down with ceiling tiles broken, hanging down or completely missing. The games were extremely outdated and not suitable for any young children. On one of the nights an extremely distressing and traumatic incident occurred and guests who witnessed it, including myself, were not checked upon by hotel staff. After asking for a room change due to having a 2.5 year old who I did not want to witness what had happened I was told they had nothing available, staff then were whispering about the incident and I was ushered off quickly so I did not alert other guests. Nothing was acknowledged and the following day it was like nothing had happened. Hotel Parasio is not a family friendly resort and requires an enormous amount of improvement in every area. This hotel let our holiday down massively! This is falsely advertised as a 4/5 star resort when in actual fact it’s far from and at a push would be considered a 2 star.
A hard pass on this one
This hotel is definitely not 4 star. It’s dated, really grotty, staff are ignorant and unhelpful and we had an awful check in experience We booked as a family of 12 and had requested to be located together, or at least close proximity. 2 of our party checked in early and got rooms beside each other, but because we arrived later, they put us in another part of the building. When we spoke to them about this, the staff couldn’t care less. We pointed out that we had seen a room being vacated close to our party and could we not just take that. We got a standard “computer says no” response saying that reservations looks after allocations and it wasn’t possible. Really set the tone for our interaction with them all week. The rooms themselves are dated, horribly antiquated with weird smells, bathroom sinks coming away from the fixtures, unusable shower curtains which just left the floor a wet mess, no working extraction fan in the bathroom and no windows. The pool was filthy (both indoor and outdoor) we were constantly standing in debris, and the smell of the water was horrible. Food in the all inclusive restaurant was barely edible and you had to pay €25 if you didn’t do all inclusive. No intention of returning here. Save your money and go to the Jupiter or even the Brisa Sol up the road
Definitely not a 4 star
We have recently come back from staying in this hotel, as I’m not one to write reviews I am one to read them and thought we should share our experiences, we were worried before we went as the reviews were not good and they were true. This hotel was very dated, the pool is extremely small for the amount of people the hotel can hold. Breakfast wasn’t great it was very cold so get down there at 8am or expect cold sausages. Our first room was awful, it flooded because of the room above so we had to move. Extremely dated all round hotel and in desperate need of updating its definitely Not a 4 star.. only good points were staff were friendly and it’s in a good location that’s about it that’s why It earned a 2. Oh and lots of groups of teenagers taking over the pool so our little one felt very intimidated. Would definitely not stay here again but would visit Portugal again.
