“A warm experience at The Barrister Hotel”
Excellent location in the heart of Valletta, very high standard of cleanliness throughout. Excellent breakfast with exceptional staff. Big thank you to Olena on reception who was so warm and welcoming. Generous with her time in explaining what to see and do during our stay. “A hidden gem that is Malta”
My husband and I stayed at The Barrister Hotel for 10 nights as we navigated our way around the hidden gem that is Malta. We found the hotel to be spacious, clean and comfortable and close to everything. The host was very friendly and gave us a few special places of interest to visit during our stay. The highlight for us was Bimala, a gracious and kind woman who greeted us every morning for breakfast. It was a pleasure to meet her smiling face each day. Thank you for taking care of us. Just a note that there is a nightclub nearby which stays open late, so if you are a light sleeper, bring the melantonin!

“Ripped off and treated like fools”
My friend and I each booked a superior double room for 4 nights from 11th September. Arrived at 10pm following a flight delay. Was greeted by a dour receptionist, payment for 4 nights was taken on arrival.Room 11 was tiny , small shower room , but the worst thing was the noise from outside was unbearable. The windows were not up to the job of blocking the noise. The night club did not stop at 1am , I called reception 3 times with the last time at 4.30am when the view from my room was of drunk men lying in the street, shouting and brawling. I was told each time that the police had been called. Apparently there were no rooms available to move to that would be any better. Worse was to come when we tried to check out. The owner, Mark , initially lied about being authorised to refund the 3 unused nights. He insisted that I contact the booking agent to authorise. This took about 1 hour. The booking agent authorised a refund.because of the problems and my feeling unsafe. The owner refused to speak to the booking agent so they emailed him. The owner refused to pay the refund . He said he would decide after 3 days . He dismissed our complaint about the noise problem , saying it was our opinion that it was noisy despite me having several videos and the police being called twice during the night. When we asked for a receipt we were told that the hotel did not have a printer. We left with no refund and no receipt, to make our way to another hotel. I was travelling with a friend. She had also paid in advance for a superior room which was also very small and as noisy as mine. Between us we have stayed in 100s of hotels. Have never been lied to or felt unsafe or treated like fools before. My friend and I paid €1000 each for our 4 night stay. The owner Mark chose to keep the best part of €2000 euros as payment for 2 small rooms for 1 night which were not fit for purpose. When I returned home , after initially ignoring emails, the owner acknowledged the problem and offered €500 credit towards another stay !! Of course i was never going back there. He kept our €2000 euros for 1 night and treated us like fools. We paid for another hotel which was excellent. Quiet. Welcoming. Honest. During the hour we spent in reception trying to check out two more guests complained about the noise. In summary if you don’t expect to sleep, don’t mind being robbed and lied to and treated like a fool you will love this place.

“Wonderful location!”
We’ve just returned from a lovely three night stay at The Barrister which was the perfect location for our Valletta city break. This is a boutique hotel in a beautifully restored building. Our room was compact but very comfortable, clean and well-equipped. The continental breakfast was very well presented, good quality, and had everything we would expect. The coffee was excellent and the breakfast service very attentive. A particular thank you to Olena and Olga from the reception desk who were both extremely kind and helpful during our stay. As an aside, we were aware from other reviews that noise may be a potential issue. We could hear some music in our room at night but we were not overly disturbed. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well.

“Luxurious”
The rooms are big,clean and have everything you need.There are loads of extras in the room and it all feels very luxurious. The hotel is very close to all the amazing sites, bars and restaurants. Staff are amazing especially Olena on reception and of course all the other staff who went above and beyond who we met during our stay. We will stay here again when going on holiday in Malta This hotel is highly recommended 👍
