If you thought a family holiday to Greece was out of your price range then think again. The 3-star Olympia Sun Hotel in Faliraki provides comfortable rooms, overlooking the resort’s pool and garden, just 650m from the sandy beach. Here you will find an abundance of bars, tavernas and restaurants, offering foods such as traditional moussaka, fasolada soup and Greek yogurt served with fresh honey.
At breakfast time all guests can choose their favourites from the continental buffet. Those booking the all-inclusive option will have all meals included, plus drinks and snacks from the poolside bar. The whole family will enjoy the evening entertainment programme.
The Olympia Sun's 103 rooms are spread between four buildings. Each has a balcony, satellite TV, air conditioning, WiFi, a small fridge, hairdryer and safe.
The hotel is close to Faliraki Water Park, a mini paradise for children with its white-knuckle slides, wave pool, pirate ship and much more. An extension will open in 2022, allowing the kids to have fun for even longer.
History lovers shouldn’t pass on the opportunity to visit the medieval old town of Rhodes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, just a 20 minute drive away. Here the Knights of St John built the first settlement around a small port and expanded it during the 13th century. Today you can see the remains of castles, temples and fortifications. A visit to the Archaeological Museum will help explain the bygone times.
The hotel is 5km from Kallithea where there are further beaches, as well as the popular attraction of Kallithea Springs. In the 1920s Italian commander Mario Lago built a spa here believing the waters had significant properties. While the actual spa facility has since closed, you can still admire the magnificent marble structures, mosaic flooring and the huge fountain at the entrance.

Our experience
Where to start. We arrived around 11pm and had no cash so the receptionist insisted we had to pay 12euros there and then so after long flight and delays we had to go and get cash out(wasn't enough next day why would it be). Room was ok , food ok too- you find something to eat . We said we would leave a review after a little incident with the manager and next day we found a letter under our door saying we have to leave the hotel in couple of hours. We didn't obviously as I said to call the policy as I refused to have my holiday ruined. No police came and I never interacted with the manager after again. That didn't put us off tough. BAR staff works incredibly hard- thanks Irina for the lovely drinks. One thing which really annoyed me was the music at the bar- no real summer music with good vibes.Beach is 5 mins walk, shops 10mins walk and it is a lovely busy area. We visited old town which is about 30mins by bus but be prepared it is very busy on the buses. You have to squeeze in :) Would I return to Faliraki- absolutely. Would I return to the hotel- no as I was nearly kicked out. This is only our experience don't let to ruin yours, you get what you paid for.
Average
Stayed in this hotel last week, room was ok but beds were uncomfortable, was bitten multiple times at night, pool was cold, food was average, hot water was turned off on the last night so had cold showers, toiletries were not replenished, had to pay extra for air-con which was not mentioned to us! Overall a very average stay.
Homey base for trips and relaxation
The hotel is located not far from the city centre, close to shops, restaurants and bars, close - yet not adjacent to - a main road. Very close to the beach, 10 minutes of slow-pace walk will take you right there. The hotel itself is new and modern, has great amenities, the pool is splendid, with a nice green area around it. But the key part here is food - I've been on 4 all inclusive trips and Olympia Sun has had the best meals so far. Great selection, everything served warm, changing menu with local and international dishes to choose from, and a separate, rich stand with desserts and fruit. The staff are friendly and helpful, and when a little hiccup occurred at the beginning of our stay, the manager (Marina) went above and beyond to make sure it's resolved quickly and compensated us more than we could hope for. Definitely a nice, welcoming base for those who look for comfort and good food after a day of travelling or sunbathing.
