Perfect place
This year's trip to Crete was my third trip to Greece. I was happy to notice that there is an option with all inclusive, which I have not met before in Greece. I had a great room with partial sea view and amazing views of the pool and bar. Meals are served three times a day, bars on the beach and at the hotel are constantly open, in the afternoon a snack is offered at the hotel bar - sandwiches, potatoes, chicken and fruit. All this can be put on a plate and dragged to your sunbed. They ask you not to take food from the main meal with you. They ask not to feed the cats, who are also familiar with the schedule and come to the buffet strictly by the hour. Cats are unobtrusive, do not bother much, avoid people, but willingly help themselves. The staff pretends that there are no cats, but there is a bowl of water on the lawns, which is regularly changed. I arrived at the hotel an hour earlier than the check-in time, but my room was already ready, and I immediately checked in. I can't say that there are very friendly people at the reception, quite strict, but everything was done professionally and treated with a refreshing drink. I was escorted to the room, the suitcase was taken. The room is modest in Greek, but has everything you need. Clean, cleaned and changed towels regularly. There's some kind of gel hanging in the shower and at the sink, but I used mine. The location of the hotel is excellent - in the city, at the same time there is its own beach, no one bothers, but if you go out through the reception, there is a pharmacy across the street, supermarkets and shops with food, clothes, cosmetics, souvenirs, transport rental are nearby. In the hotel bar, nice people of different ages mix cocktails. According to all inclusive, this is local alcohol, highly diluted. You can't call it tasty, but it won't be bad, and it's easy to drink in the heat. You can buy normal drinks at the bar, they will cook without questions. The saddest thing is coffee. This is the only moment that is a real minus. Coffee is here from a vending machine, in which it is unknown what is poured. Thin swill, and they ask for 2 euros for a cup of espresso. Sadly. Buffet. Everyone is friendly, professional, smiling. There is plenty of food, everyone will find it to their taste. For breakfast, all kinds of eggs, bacon, potatoes, cheeses, salad, vegetables, sausages. For lunch, vegetables, salads, some kind of soup (croutons, bread, cheese and greens are separately placed with it), cheeses, rice, potatoes and lots and lots of hot. Be sure to fish, pork, chicken (chicken so-so), rabbit, turkey with oranges (excellent!), moussaka and in general a complete variety. Necessarily yoghurts, sweets, cakes. Once a week there is a corner of Asian cuisine. They don't know how to cook it, it's not worth wasting time. The hotel also has 2 restaurants - American (burgers) and Italian cuisine. The first time I was not offered to go, and the Italian 1 time for a vacation you can go for free, but you need to make an appointment in advance. I did so, and very much in vain - they cook quite normally, you can't call it delicious, and there's no need to sign up - the place is empty all evening. Before my eyes, French couple went to the buffet of the hotel and I regretted that I did not do the same, because there was an evening of Greek cuisine. There is a massage salone. I don't recommend it. Instead of massage stroking, and the price per hour is 60 euros. Sea. Yes, it is rocky, but the water is absolutely clear, the purest. The locals are fishing. I bought a mask - not the Red Sea, but there is something to see. There are sun beds to choose from all over the beach - even ordinary, even whole double wooden four-poster beds. Surprisingly, Wi-Fi catches perfectly throughout the territory. In the evenings, entertainment, songs and dances. You should not rely too much on animation - it is very scarce. There were almost no children on my arrival, and it was amazing. Many people come to this hotel for many years in a row, which speaks about the quality.
Lovely Cretian Village Hotel
We were impressed from the minute we stepped into the lobby. The staff were so friendly. The rooms were great and cleaned regularly. We stayed for 2 weeks and always found something to eat. The drinks were ok, wine was a bit diluted but there was a selection of cocktails, and the usual spirits offered. It was lovely to have the pepsi/Fanta options at the pumps and self serve during meals. Loved the Italian restaurant, you have to leave the hotel and walk a very short way down the street but well worth it (and has full strength wine ) I'd also recommend the American Diner option too, but wear loose trousers . Small tip though...when ordering, your 'sides' choice comes out as a starter. So we ended up with huge bowls of coleslaw, that one would easy serve 2 or 3 people, so if there's a few if you, all order different and you can then share. You have to book for these in advance. Entertainment on a night was good but repetitive. The hotel is not the best for anyone with mobility issues as although it's all ramps, its on a slight downward slope towards the dining room, and there's the issue of getting back uphill. Luckily my son is young and managed to push his girlfriends wheelchair up no problem. If there was one thing that let the hotel down for us, it was the 'famous' towels on the sunbeds for hours and hours without anyone even using them. We witnessed this a lot. Many days we had to go to the bottom pool and ended up on sunbeds on the grass away from the pool, while 50% of the beds were unoccupied around the pools. We went in the beginning of May, so the season hadn't even really started. All it takes is for a dedicated staff member to remove the blue hotel towels that have been left unoccupied for over half an hour/ or an hour. This frees the beds for others to enjoy. The culprits would then have to pay a small deposit to get a replacement towel (or use their own) Before covid a few hotels we have been to have wire baskets /bins at the side that all collected towels/ books etc were dumped in, if anyone broke the rule. Things ran smoothly once people got the just of what would happen. I feel that for such a lovely hotel, it's the one thing that could be looked into to make it a perfect holiday. My favourite spot was on a 4 poster bed at the end of the jetti type thing. I spent many hours with my book, or collecting my thoughts listening to the waves and feeling the occassional spray. It was heaven. Big shout out to Nancy the cleaner, and Costas in the dining hall, both were so friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay special, and not forgetting the friendly young lady who greeted everyone as they went into the dining room. (Sorry forgot her name) All in all we will definitely be returning.
