Amazing Hotel

We spent 17 very nice and relaxing days at Serenity Fun City. It is a very good and clean hotel. There are really lots of attractions like the aqua park or the animation program. The 5 stars are definitely well deserved. Especially the service and staff were very helpful and polite. They fulfilled every wish we had. The rooms are very clean and the food is very delicious and diverse. Furthermore we had the possibility to book lots of trips there. For example a trip to Luxor or Cairo which was very interesting and historic. Special thanks to the receptionist Ziad. He is very helpful and super friendly. We could ask him our questions anytime and he solved everything perfectly. Thank you very much Ziad! You are very hard working and made our stay in the hotel pleasant.

The Good, the bad and the Ugly

This is a tough one to review as there are many good things about this hotel and many things that drag it down. Firstly and foremost, times are different right now and I am going to suggest that many of the downs are due to COVID. Firstly the good.... The staff, from beneath management, and especially the reception, bar and restaurant, and room cleaners.....I honestly can't fault any of them. Friendly, polite, attentive and nothing is too much trouble. Get on the right side of them, and all it takes is be polite and friendly and they will look after you. The animation team, as with many resorts, are hard working, friendly and clearly under appreciated for the hours they put in. From a resort POV, Firstly, it's big!!....not a cosy little enclosed resort by any stretch! Outside, is spectacular in its appearance, loads to do, especially if you have young children with the onsite fairground open at night. Waterpark is good and manned again by friendly staff willing to have a bit of fun with users. For those that want to, there is quad biking from outside the hotel into the desert and it was a great outing. A sister hotel is bang opposite and you can take a shuttle bus down to the beach, or 7 or 8 minute walk, that's decent, with a pier you can snorkel from, and again for those wanting to, an on beach PADI dive centre. Evening entertainment, of sorts, pool table, games room, English bar for when the AI ends for those wanting to carry on, not expensive either. Shops catering to most things. Would recommend the French and Chinese Ala Carte choices, the Italian is OK. The bads, as such. The main catering food is good in quality BUT odd in combination, sometimes really struggled to put meal together. I am calling this a COVID issue as there is capacity for more food options but maybe down to reduced numbers and the whole social distancing thing, they are reducing things. We were there over Christmas/NY, and the 2 gala dinner offerings were impressive though, visually and plentiful. On that matter, massive effort was put into the 2 gala dinners, I believe different to what they may usually have done in regard to it all being located in the sizeable lobby area. HOWEVER both events were somewhat ruined by 2 things....Firstly the entertainment was shockingly bad!! The singers that were on for most of the evening were awful, especially on NYE!! The only thing that kept it going at all was the efforts of the animation team. NYE was such a disappointing event as pretty much on the stroke of midnight, the bars shut and it was clear that all management wanted was for everyone to leave so they could take down the stage and get things back to normal!!! Clearly no concept of the occasion for the majority of guests!!. One massive bug bear was that the main pools are not heated!! It left possibly the nicest part of the pool area deserted mostly as the aqua park area atleast had some heated water!. For this, I think this is a better summer vacation place than winter sun. Apparently the pools at the sister Hotel are heated but FC guests are not permitted to use them!. My one main observation is that this hotel, is tired......I suppose it is what you choose to see. The rooms are clean and well maintained, but tired. The whole accommodation area is just tired in appearance, bit nothing that couldn't be sorted with a program of maintenance and decorating. If you choose to see, it's not hard to see many areas that could and should be improved. As despite the 2 hotels, there is no where else to go unless you take an organised excursion, I think keeping the resort pristine should be an absolute priority. Would I visit again, having stayed not far away in Makadi Bay, with so much more to offer and generally a lot nicer, NO, if you want a waterpark hotel that's nicer all round head to the Jaz Aquaviva, yes more expensive but worth it.

Mario's perfume shop

Amazing customer service, lovely perfumes made by Mario himself including ones that are no longer available in the UK, Mario has become a wonderful friend and would highly recommend visiting his shop whilst at the hotel. Very friendly, welcoming and is always willing to help make your holiday as enjoyable as possible. Amy and jack
