Located within the resort of Protaras on the island of Cyprus, Sunrise Jade provides a deluxe adults-only experience. Perched above the bay it offers picturesque views out to sea, with a sandy cove just steps from the hotel. The resort centre, with its beaches, cafes, bars and restaurants, is around 15 minutes’ walk away.
The hotel boasts two outdoor pools and one indoor option. Sunbeds are allocated at check-in so there’s no need to get up early to bag yourself one. Scuba diving lessons are offered throughout the week. Learn in the safety of one of the resort's pools before diving the depths of the Mediterranean to swim alongside the fish. If you prefer to exercise in an air-conditioned environment, you may wish to make use of the onsite gym.
For something less adventurous and more relaxing, the hotel runs yoga and mindful sessions, allowing you to learn the benefits of centred breathing and physical strengthening. Further peace and tranquillity can be obtained at the Jade Spa by Elemis boasting three treatment rooms, a pedicure & manicure area plus a sauna.
The hotel offers convenience and variety when it comes to onsite dining. In addition to the Sage International Restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, there are four speciality restaurants. As part of the half-board package you can enjoy one evening meal at each during your stay, just be sure to make a reservation the day before. Ginger Fine Dining offers gourmet Asian and Mediterranean dishes. For juicy burgers, flame grilled steak, chicken and more, visit Reef American Grill. Sample local Cypriotic and Greek foods at Kyklos. This restaurant is open to the public and is frequented by locals, the sign of good authentic food. Last, but by no means least, is Braseiro Rodizio Brazilian offering charcoal grilled meat and large skewers.
For a sweet treat between meals Patisserie Amelie offers Belgian waffles and homemade gelato ice cream, alongside tea and freshly brewed coffee. The Pool Bar also serves snacks alongside a wide range of beverages, while at the Mint Lounge Bar (open until midnight) you can grab a post-dinner cocktail, while chilling to the musical accompaniment.
The air-conditioned rooms offer a generous 29m2 of space, as well as a king sized bed, two armchairs and an espresso machine. The balconies are furnished with a further two chairs, providing the ideal spot to drink your morning coffee. Additionally you get satellite TV, WiFi, a safe, a hairdryer, a mini bar, complimentary bottled water and bathrobes. Don’t worry about bringing an international adapter to charge your phone, as your room will have USB charging points.
Thanks to the secure underground parking you won’t return to a freshly baked hire car. Cyclops Cave is well worth a visit and it is only 5 minutes’ drive away. This isn’t the famous one referred to in Homer’s Odyssey but that means it’s much quieter with fewer visitors. It also provides a starting point for a number of coastal scenic hiking trails. Further down the shore is Cape Greco National Forest Park, offering numerous further walking opportunities.
Ayia Napa can easily be reached by car or public bus. Here, don’t miss the monastery dating from the 1500s. If you visit in the autumn you may have the opportunity to visit the medieval festival, held within the stone buildings. Lovers of nature can’t miss Thalassa Museum, with its aim being to present the impact and the significance of the sea. Currently the only museum of its kind in the Mediterranean region. Of course the town is famous for its vibrant nightlife but if you want to get back cheaply be careful not to miss the last bus, at around 11pm.
