Monti’s Vintage Market
Visit Rome’s hippest neighbourhood as you search for retro treasures at Monti’s vintage market. Browse unique handmade products created by local makers in this alternative shopping destination, which is a must-see if you love to get off the beaten track.
Arriving at the vintage market on Via Leonina in Monti, you’ll be greeted by the sounds of a live DJ as you step inside the market space. With 35 sellers the market’s small but perfectly formed, with a friendly, creative vibe. Walking from stall to stall looking through vintage clothes, handcrafted jewellery, second hand books and retro cameras, you’ll be spoiled for choice as you search for souvenirs and gifts. You’ll even find one-off clothes made by budding fashion designers alongside original artwork and cult antiques.
As a grassroots project, Monti’s vintage market does an important job in supporting local artists and designers, so forget the high street and buy local instead. The market’s open on weekends from 10am to 8pm, with free entry.
After you’ve browsed the products on offer, go for a walk in the Monti neighbourhood. With its cobbled streets and creative vibe, it’s considered one of Rome’s most up-and-coming areas, so take your time visiting local boutiques and art galleries before relaxing at a café on Piazza della Madonna dei Monti. The district is also home to the Church of Santa Maria ai Monti, Piazza del Grillo and Via del Boschetto, one of the city’s best alternative shopping streets.
