Great hotel for a cheap week away
We stayed for a week during the summer holidays as a couple. Paid just over £650 for flights, all inclusive hotel room and transfers (booked separately). It took around half an hour to check in but the room was lovely, really spacious and clean. We were in the second block and had a room facing the small pool which was great as the main pool is really loud from 10am-10pm. All inclusive breakfast and lunch were okay, pretty standard but we enjoyed it. We ate out every evening as the dinner meals looked questionable. All inclusive drinks and snack bar were great. Only thing really letting our trip down was the sunbed situation. Come in from a night out at 5am and there are literally no sunbeds left. Management should come round at 10am - when the pool actually opens - and remove them all to stop this from happening. God knows what time people were laying their towels down but the hotel really need to do something about it. We went down at 11.30am one day and there was a row of about 20 sunbeds with not a single person on them still folded over with a towel. The maids were great, cleaned the room every day with fresh bedding towels etc. Overall really enjoyed our stay but beware of the sunbed situation.
Good location
Our room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is very noisy at night but we had a room facing the pool so maybe not as noisy as the ones at the front. The pools are really lovely and a great depth for non swimmers and swimmers. They were also very clean. We didnt get a sunbed as they were all gone by around 6.30am!!! We could hear the people outside at this time putting their towels out!! It didn't bother us too much as not big sunbathers. The entertainment man was so hard working but might have been nice to have had an outside act once or twice a week for a change. Great location for the beach and lots of bars and restaurants nearby. The food was ok, lots of choice but more sort of canteen food rather than a nice sit down meal but was very clean and tables were cleared quickly. You can help yourself to wine, lager and soft drinks. Its a shame the bar didnt have a self service soft drinks dispenser as there was often a wait for drinks but again the staff were friendly and hard working.
A couple of downsides but soooo many upsides
Stayed here for a week after having stayed 2 times previously. The pool(s) are spot on, the staff are so friendly and polite and the food is lovely! For the first 2 days we didn’t go see the entertainment as we were just getting settled but after meeting Paddy from the team he really made the holiday especially for the kids. He has a real rapport with the guests and despite perhaps having only spoken to you once or twice he still remembered your name. He’s a real asset to the Columbus! Brilliant guy! His energy and just overall persona really brightens your day! The only “hotel issue” we had was the sofa bed! It is extremely uncomfortable; we didn’t sleep much but it probably doesn’t help that we both are getting older and our backs aren’t what they used to be but I’d definitely recommend perhaps upgrading them a little in the future. Overall I’d highly recommend! The other downsides we experienced were nothing of the hotels doing it was the guests!!! 1. The noise in the early hours of the morning. Some of the guests had zero respect for the hotel and other people who are there to relax! Running to and down corridors singing, banging and just being complete and utter idiots. 2. Again………..the guests, around the pool the complete lack of manners to staff, their complete disregard for safety and cleanliness. Leaving glass bottles underneath sun beds, cigarette butts etc. I am a smoker but I managed to stand next to the multiple ash strays around the complex to take 10 simple minutes out of my day to ensure I was away from the pool!! the lifeguard was probably one of the sweetest guys we had every met and even complimented us on how nice and respectful we were as we even picked up rubbish to help since it was everywhere. Simple common sense! He did such a great job! He didn’t moan but why a man doing such a great job should have to pick up after miscreants with no respect is beyond belief!! I mean, you wouldn’t do that at your own home so why disrespect someone’s business in that way. All in all I do recommend this hotel, I just wish people would show the staff there the same level of respect they would expect to be shown themselves. I could go on and on because I’d say any negative reviews stem from the other guests behaviours and not the hotels!! Manners cost nothing at the end of the day so if you’re going on holiday just be a good person. It ain’t hard. Top class Columbus, I’ll definitely be back for the 4th time ❤️
