Great
Stayed here end of July 22. After arriving late on a Sunday evening, we were offered cold food but we didn’t take this up. Hotel room was good size & just what we needed, although we were slightly disappointed there was no fridge at all, bathroom was good & room was regularly cleaned. The food was a bit tedious towards the end of the holiday but wasn’t too much of an issue as you always had a meal you liked. The theme nights were ok although was fairly basic themed. The swimming pool was great, inflatables are welcome but depending if everyone has one, then you’ll have to be in the section cut off specific for this. The entertainment was not the best (for adults, defo suitable for children) throughout the day was more aimed towards the children although would of been nice to have more adult games etc. the evening entertainment is hit and miss. We spent 3/4 days out of the hotel visiting shops and markets etc. the best markets are in maspalomas which is a short walk or taxi from play del ingles. The beach is a short walk too, be prepared to pay for your sun beds in the beach, the bloke who was chasing the money wanted €9 per sunbed. All in all, the hotel was great & would visit again.
Lost A lot Of Points for Entertainment
Cleanliness - the staff work extremely hard to keep the hotel clean throughout. The rooms are spotless, so are the hallways. There are multiple ‘empties’ buckets around the pool to throw your plastic cups in when finished which are emptied throughout the day. Pool - the pool is a salt water pool, this took a bit of getting used to as I’m not particularly keen and it was never mentioned anywhere in the online description. The pool is big, floating toys allowed in the one section of the pool, but not across the floating rope otherwise the lifeguard asks you to move down. There is a kids splash park which is good fun, the wooden decking here gets extremely hot in the day so don’t forget your sliders. People reserve there sun beds here, so if you have kids and you want to be close to the pool edge best get up early, some people are down there at 6am! Food - there is plenty to choose from, even for fussy eaters. Breakfast has cereals, a variety of breads for toasting, pastries, the usual fried foods, pancakes, fruit, coffee machine and the fizzy drinks operate in the morning as well, they also have fruit juices. Lunch and Dinner vary but are very similar. Pork, fish, beef, salads, spaghetti, pastas, chicken, steak, burgers, hot dogs etc, they change daily but if you’re fussy and can’t find something, I’d suggest just staying at home lol. They even had chicken nuggets and chips one night. Entertainment - this is really poor and completely lets the hotel down. I feel sorry for the animation team as they clearly just have no budget. Evening entertainment is basically a live singer 5 nights per week, no show, just stood on the stage singing. No magic show, no traditional dancers, no animal show, just a singer. There is a professional show on Saturday and Sunday, but we haven’t seen that yet! We went out most nights. The kids entertainment is a mini disco but this doesn’t last very long and is downstairs so by the time you come outside most of the seating is taken near the stage anyway, so if there was decent entertainment but you had kids you wouldn’t see the stage anyway. Drinks - all inclusive drinks are mainly serve yourself. Red, white and rose wine are all vile, tastes like vinegar. The beer is OK, called Tropical, basically Gran Canaria’s Carling I’d say, There is a coffee machine and fruit juice machine which are self serving in the pool bar also, as well as the usually Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite, Fanta Orange, Fanta Lemon & Soda Water. Spirits and cocktails are served by the bar staff, along with chocolate milk and whipped cream, big favourite amongst the kids. Puerto De Mogan - I’d recommend a visit here, the beach and harbour are beautiful, the water at the harbour is crystal clear you can see the fish swimming. The beach is made up of lots of little coves surrounded by rock pools which are full of beautifully colours crabs. There is also a market here twice per week, plenty of bars and restaurants, a large beer is around 2.50-3.00e. Taxi to here is around 25e but it’s 100% worth it. There are local buses but when we asked at reception because there are 6 of us, he said it’ll only be slightly more in a taxi anyway. There aren’t many 6 seater taxis around here though, the hotel can order one for you but it’s hit and miss if it shows or not, we just started walking and flagged one down when we spotted one. Palmitos Park - this is the local zoo, we had a great day out here, it’s worth it just for the birds of prey and dolphin shows alone. If you’re a family of 4 book online, hotel has tickets for standard prices, can save 16e booking tickets online. You cannot use the tickets the same day you book online though due to the discount. A taxi here is around 16.00e. A photo with the dolphins is 20e or two photos for 30e, you have to pay first but there’s a place parents can stand and take some photos whilst the professionally is going there’s, I took some as I wanted them on my phone, not printed. The restaurant here doesn’t have a kids menu, so if your child wants a burger you’ll be paying adult prices for it. They do have hotdogs and chicken fingers which are a bit cheaper. Drinks are 5e for a 750ml cup and water is 3.50e per bottle from the machine. Camel riding Maspalomas Dunes - this is a 30 minute excursion through the dunes, highly recommend, the camels are amazing, when they stand up you do think you’re going to fall but once you’re up you’re good. The guys leading the camels will take your phone around half way to take photos for you if you ask them. Taxi to here is around 4.50e Holiday World - you can buy tickets for this on the gate, 15e adults and 12e kids. There’s a selection of rides, a gaming area, the only pirate ship I’ve ever seen where you can stand up on it, a large Ferris wheel, plus restaurants, bars etc. This doesn’t open until 5pm. Taxi here is 4e If the hotel invested in decent entertainment this would have been a 5 star review for sure as it really is a great hotel!
Had a lovely time at Waikiki
Spent 10 nights at this hotel the staff were lovely and friendly, the hotel was clean the cleaners were always cleaning, the food was lovely and different choices every night im a fussy eater and found Somthing different to have every night, there is always food available either in the restaurant or the snack bar, the resturaunt did get very busy but I suppose you have to expect that in peak season, waiters did a great job at clearing tables quickly, most drinks are self service around the hotel and fizzy drinks are all Branded coke, Fanta ect. The pool is a good size but people get up stupidly early to get sun beds which the hotel says it does not allow but there’s no one stopping it. We had no chance of getting a sun bed throughout the day but there is an outside area close to pool which usually had tables available, the splash park is great for littler ones there is also an adults only jacuzzi, There was lots of different entertainment throughout the day, and a kids disco at night it was quite repetitive but my kids enjoyed it, not sure about night time entertainment, The rooms are not massive but for us it was only for sleeping in and they were cleaned everyday ,There is a supermarket 2 min walk away and its about 15 minutes walk to the nearest beach we always got a taxi back tho as it was all uphill on the way back a taxi back was around €3. There’s a bus stop outside the hotel and a taxi rank, also not far away from airport or main attractions such as water park ect. We had a lovely time here and would definitely come back to this hotel if I ever visited the area again
