2124 reviews
SBH Costa Calma Beach is a beachfront hotel on Costa Calma, a popular holiday resort on the coast of Fuerteventura, and one of the Canary Islands in Spain. The hotel is steps from Sotavento beach, a sandy stretch bordered by the calm waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and a short walk from the centre of Costa Calma, where you can find beachside stalls serving tapas and seafront restaurants that offer fresh seafood as a speciality. The hotel has three outdoor swimming pools, all surrounded by a relaxation area that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and plenty of places for you to sit in the sun or the shade. For kids, there are two separate splash pools. If you want to stay active, you can take part in aqua aerobics, beach volleyball or improve your racket skills on the tennis court. You can also play pool or table tennis, or maintain your fitness regime in the hotel gym. SBH Costa Calma Beach's spa has a sauna and offers massages to help you unwind. Six times per week, the staff at the hotel provide family-friendly entertainment, including live music and shows. For food and drinks during your stay, there are three bars, one of which is beside the pool and a buffet restaurant.
SBH Costa Calma Beach Resort is 100m from Sotavento beach and 2km from the resort centre of Costa Calma. Here, you can relax on the sandy Playa Esmerelda or visit the family-friendly Lajita Village, which is home to a botanical garden. If you're a lover of nature, you can spend the day exploring Jandia Natural Park, a 19km drive from the hotel. There you can spot diverse flora and fauna, including lizards, cacti and colourful birds, and can enjoy coastal views from the lighthouse at the island's southernmost tip.
At SBH Costa Calma Beach Resort, you can eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at the buffet restaurant, which offers dishes from around the world. Twice a week the restaurant hosts theme nights and offers French and Spanish food. If you want to eat out, there are plenty of restaurants in the centre of Costa Calma.
The hotel offers two kids' clubs with games and face painting for ages 4-8 and 9-15. There's also a playroom and games room.
Rooms at the hotel are bright and airy with a neutral colour scheme. All rooms come with air conditioning and a balcony or terrace.

Not a lot to do in location, cleaning could improve
Pool area looked as good as photos but very dirty, Sun loungers and pool area always dirty. Set alarm as best loungers taken up by 7.30am with towels. No one monitoring this. Pool side bar only open a couple of hours a day meaning you had to hike a distance to get a cold drink. Food very good, bar service and reception never enough staff so slow. Gym very poor. Only one bar ever open at one time so inconvenient if other side of hotel. Overall felt a budget hotel holiday so reasonable value for money. Area isolated so Nothing to do outside of hotel in area.
Filthy hotel
Having had a wonderful holiday at the Tui magic life hotel fuerteventura we had the misfortune of staying for a night at this hotel due to flight delays. Whilst we were grateful last minute accomadation could be found for an overnight stay ,my family and I along with alot of others placed here were shocked at the substandard conditions. The SBH has acquired the insolvent hotel next door and is connected by a walkway. Our initial room was in this block. On walking to our room it was clear the hotel was in disrepair, dead cockroaches in the corridor ,old filthy sofas in the hallway and a closed down abandoned dinner hall thick with dust . On entry to the room we were greeted by cockroaches running on the floor, ripped bed linen ,old plastic garden furniture in the bedroom and generally filthy conditions. After complaining to reception we were given an alternative room on the other side of the hotel which was only marginally better. My young daughter walking to the new room used the handrails in the corridor to help her down the steps only for her hands to be thick with black dirt.Again the furniture and room was filthy with stained bed linen and dangerous electrics. It is very clear this hotel should closed down ,fumigated and totally refurbished. I genuinly felt for all the people who were holidaying here!
4 star hotel ??????
Oh my good god , I have absolutely no idea who or why this was awarded 4 stars . We stayed here for one very very long night as a result of our TUI flight being cancelled . We had stayed for a fortnight in TUI Magic life which by the way is a far superior hotel in every single department . Stayed in this hotel for one night as a result took over an hour to check in , place had one bar and the queue for a drink took me 30 mins . When the restaurant eventually opened it served no hot food only leftover salad which unfortunately my young kids and from listening to other families none of the young children would eat . The food in general even at that was very poor. Eventually got given a room at 11.15 at night after waiting over 2 hours and I can honestly say hand on heart this was the most sub standard hotel room including £40 a night hotel rooms I’ve ever had the displeasure of staying in . Bits of broken furniture in the room , curtains that didn’t open , air conditioning unit that didn’t work in sweltering heat with young children in the room , a couch with stains that I can’t even fathom where it came from , this was as close to fawlty towers as I’ve personally ever come and if this was my first experience of an all inclusive stay it would honestly be my last . Completely understand that we were put up at short notice shipped here from fuerteventura airport at 8pm on an hours bus journey but the hotel had plenty of time to sort out suitable rooms and hot food for families of young children . If you are considering staying here please please trust me and look elsewhere , there are much better hotels around and honestly how this was awarded 4 stars is completely beyond me .
