Could not fault this hotel
We have just rebooked this hotel as we had such a fantastic time last year, but realised I had not left a review following our last stay in September 2022! This stylish hotel has a very chilled vibe. The cool ambiance was exactly what my wife and I were looking for. The staff were attentive, courteous and helpful. We stayed in a chic room which is the cheapest, but it was great. The only negative was the lack of clothes hanging space. The pool area is lovely with an elevated view of the marina. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and found the quality to be very high, especially the breakfast. Long, lazy breakfasts with a view of the marina was a great start to the day! We hired a moped at the hotel and had fun whizzing around the island. The nearest beach is 200 yds away and is nice. We walked or cycled to other lovely beaches further east too. We've never booked the same hotel for consecutive years, but enjoyed this hotel so much we've just booked again for September as part of our 40th wedding anniversary celebrations! If you want a stylish, chilled, adult only hotel I would definitely recommend Casas del Lago.
Beautiful Complex Super friendly Staff
In October it seems Menorca starts to wind down and is pretty much shut by the end of the month. We went in the second week of October and some of the hotels/apartments and restaurants were already closed. Obviously the resort was pretty quiet, this did not bother us to much, it certainly ensured there were sunbeds available. Lago Resort is a small complex the staff were very friendly and the service was good. We upgraded from the basic room to one with a small kitchenette, the rooms are spacious with a lounge area with sofa and dining table, the kitchenette area and a spacious bedroom, obviously there is a bathroom with large walk in shower as well. The rooms were spotless and housekeeping very efficient. One thing to remember when visiting the Balearics is that they have introduced a tourist tax! First thing you are greeted with at your accommodation is a demand for payment £54 for two people for 7 days, not the resorts fault but not a nice surprise. I will definitely be looking at this when travelling in the future it might well colour my choices. Anyway the next surprise was that we were going to have to move accommodation halfway through the holiday, nice. Apparently the resort was closing, that said they moved is to their sister resort Suites del Lago, it is a 5* resort which cushioned the blow a bit, and after expressing our displeasure the manager gave us a free spa session on the morning of the move and they transferred the suitcases. All that apart it was strange that this had not been communicated to Tui our travel company! They received a complaint as well as you don't really want to have to pack again halfway through the week and move. As I mentioned the Lago Suites were fantastic and only a short walk away, I will review them separately. Tui were still dropping customers off after the resort had shut, really!! Anyway back to Lago Resort, food was lovely served buffet style and although not having the range that we have seen in larger hotels etc. there was enough choice to keep me interested. No issues around getting a table etc. I guess because there was not that many at the hotel, the meals were served over a few hours so if it were busy you could always pop back. From memory there were two meat two fish and some veggie options, plenty of salad and a range of desserts. Did not use the pool as we were out and about but it looked lovely with plenty of loungers and a view over the marina. There was some Ibiza chill type of music playing but it did not seem that intrusive. The resort is adults only which aids the peace and quiet, all in all we enjoyed our visit despite the little hiccup. The general resort is small and if your looking for nightlife I would think it would be a bit lacking, it was at the end of the season for sure. Maybe in season there would be a bit ore going on.
Lovely hotel
We upgraded to suite room ,with pool view so glad we did , as the standard rooms are all right on marina front and anyone can walk past and see right in !. We went BB best option in my opinion as there are lots of lovely restaurants to choose from around the marina. The breakfast is great one of best I have had plenty of choice and staff are lovely ( especially the older lady who was lovely sorry never caught her name ) . Drinks and food are quite expensive at the pool bar so again for lunch we went to marina massive choice at good prices. The room itself was lovely very modern and kept spotless throughout our 7 day stay . The sun beds are ok but they leave the covers out and they are always wet but I did go in October . There are also not many so in busy months you will be at beach or on balcony of room which has sun beds , you will be charged on beach for beds ( not cheap) . All in al lovely for early or end of season break but wouldn’t fancy in summer far too busy for me
