Antalya Holidays: 10 Free Things To Do

Looking to make your Antalya holiday go further without missing the must‑see sights? Whether it’s an All Inclusive escape or a Self Catering stay in one of the many Antalya hotels, there are plenty of free things to do in Antalya to add extra sparkle to your break. From Lara Beach and Antalya Old Town to mountain trails, bazaars and waterfalls, here’s our guide to 10 brilliant activities that keep costs low and memories high.

1. Lara Beach, Turkey

The beautiful Lara Beach in Turkey's Antalya region

Stretch out on the soft golden sands of this Blue Flag favourite that runs for around 12km along the coast east of Antalya airport.

It doesn’t cost a penny to claim a patch of sand, paddle in the clear water or enjoy a long seaside stroll before heading back to nearby Lara Beach hotels.

2. Antalya Old Town and Marina

Also known as Kaleiçi, Antalya Old Town is a maze of cobbled streets, Ottoman houses, boutiques and cafés, and it is completely free to wander at your own pace.

Drop down to the historic marina to watch the boats, soak up the sunset and enjoy classic sunny scenes over the harbour.

Top Tip: If you don’t have mobile data available on your holiday to Turkey, download or print off an Antalya Old Town map before you go. Alternatively, install an offline map from the Google or Apple store.

3. Hadrian's Gate

The impressive Hadrian’s Gate at the entrance to Antalya's Old Town

Hadrian’s Gate stands on Atatürk Boulevard as one of the grand entrances into Antalya Old Town and dates back to around 130 AD.

Walk through its marble arches, admire the carved columns and snap a few photos before continuing into the narrow streets beyond.

4. Clock Tower (Saat Kulesi)

Antalya's iconic Clock Tower

Antalya’s stone clock tower marks one of the gateways to the Old Town and is a handy meeting point before exploring nearby streets and squares.

In theory it’s also free to climb the tower but admission may be reserved for guided groups.

5. Yivli Minaret Mosque

The minarets of the Yivli Minaret Mosque in Antalya

The fluted Yivli Minaret Mosque rises above Antalya Old Town and is one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks, dating back to the 13th century.

Admire the distinctive brick and turquoise tile work from outside, then step inside to learn more about its history and religious significance.

6. Lycian Way walks

The Lycian Way long‑distance trail runs for around 540km between Ölüdeniz near Fethiye and Antalya, passing dramatic cliffs, pine forests and sparkling Mediterranean coves.

Short Lycian Way walk for families

Try an easy half‑day section near Göynük, around 40km from Antalya, where waymarked forest paths and river views give a taste of the route without steep drops.

You can walk a short out‑and‑back stretch, then cool off at Göynük canyon. Ideal if you’re interested in booking Kemer holidays for beach time.

Longer Lycian Way walk for couples and solo travellers

Active adults can tackle a more challenging coastal section between Tekirova and Çıralı, which rewards effort with sea views, secluded bays and ancient ruins.

Pack plenty of water, start early to make the most of cooler Antalya weather in April or October, and finish by cooling off with a dip in the sea.

You can find more information on the longer hikes on the Antalya Tourist Board website.

7. Düden Falls

Düden Falls actually refers to two sets of cascades: Upper Düden Falls in a leafy park around 8km inland, and Lower Düden Falls, which tumble dramatically over cliffs into the sea near Lara Beach.

Upper Düden has a small admission charge, while Lower Düden can be admired from coastal viewing spots for free.

8. Konyaalti Beach

Konyaalti's lengthy shoreline

Konyaalti Beach stretches for around 7km along the western side of Antalya, backed by promenades, parks and impressive mountain scenery.

It has plenty of free areas where you can relax on the beach in Antalya, with cafés and facilities nearby when you need a break from the heat.

9. Antalya Bazaar

A wander through Antalya Bazaar is a free cultural experience, even if the plan is just to browse and people‑watch.

Stalls piled high with spices, textiles, sweets and souvenirs offer a lively snapshot of local life, giving a flavour of Turkey’s famous market culture. And if you decide to spend some of your Turkish lira on souvenirs for friends and family, remember to haggle to get the best price.

10. Karaalioglu Park

Karaalioglu Park is a peaceful green space overlooking the cliffs, harbour and Mediterranean, perfect for picnics and shady strolls on those warm Antalya holidays.

Look out for Hidirlik Tower, street performers and vendors as you follow paths to different viewpoints over the bay.

Free cultural events and festivals in Antalya

Throughout the year Antalya hosts free or low‑cost cultural events, including open‑air concerts in parks, local Republic Day celebrations in October and occasional performances in Antalya Old Town squares.

In summer, look out for free beachside events, craft markets and mini festivals that provide a relaxed way to experience local music, food and traditions.

The website HerAntalya provides a comprehensive list of upcoming events in the region.

One‑day and two‑day free itineraries

One‑day free Antalya itinerary

Morning: Start at Hadrian’s Gate, wander Antalya Old Town, visit the clock tower and Yivli Minaret Mosque, then head down to the marina.

Afternoon: Take the tram or bus to Konyaalti Beach for swimming and a picnic from the bazaar, then watch the sunset from the promenade or Karaalioglu Park.

Two‑day free Antalya itinerary

Day 1: Follow the one‑day plan to discover the must-see sites in the town of Antalya.

Day 2: Spend the morning walking a section of the Lycian Way near Göynük for a nature fix. After lunch head to the Lower Düden Falls viewing point to admire the scenery. Then spend the warmest part of the day chilling on Lara Beach.

Hidden and lesser‑known free spots in Antalya

Beyond the big‑name attractions, quieter viewpoints around Karaalioglu Park and small lanes off the main Old Town routes often promise crowd‑free photo opportunities and peaceful corners.

Local parks, smaller pebbly coves west of Konyaalti and rural stretches of the Lycian Way on Kemer holidays can feel like secret escapes while still being easy to reach from the city.

If Antalya sounds like the right fit, you can explore Antalya hotels and find a holiday that suits your plans.
