What’s the weather like in Benidorm in December?
Benidorm’s in the southeast of Spain, on the country’s Mediterranean coast. This means that although it’s winter, you’ll still get warm weather and sunny days in December. Temperatures are quite a bit cooler than over summer, so it’s a great time to visit if you like less heat and less crowds.
The mountains that surround Benidorm make its lovely Mediterranean weather even better, bringing warmer temperatures and clearer skies. The Serra Gelada Mountains to the east protect the city from winds that come across the sea, and also give you the chance to explore.
The average high’s still a pleasant 16ºC in December, although things do get a bit chilly at night, cooling to 7ºC at night. Make sure you pack some warmer clothes for the evenings. The sea temperature’s 16ºC, while humidity’s low. Average rainfall’s 45mm over nine rainy days. You can expect five hours of sunshine from the ten hours of daylight each day. UV levels will be low. The sun goes down around 5.45pm.
Things to Do
Although the weather’s much cooler in December, you’ll still be able to spend an afternoon at the beach. Try lively Playa de Levante, or Playa de Poniente for something a bit more laid back. It’s a great time to explore Benidorm and the surrounding area, so have a wander around the Old Town and head out to the mountains or the Algar waterfalls. The cooler temperatures are ideal for golf, and there’s some great courses in the area.
