What’s the weather like in Paris in December?
The festive season in Paris is very warm and romantic with colourful lights draped on buildings and a few light snow showers over the month.
Geographical influences
Paris weather in December is very cold and wet with a small chance of snow. The city is located in the north of central France, which means it has a typical Western European oceanic climate with regular winds blowing in from the North Atlantic Current. Sunshine isn’t as common in winter as it is in autumn, which means you can expect more cloud coverage and light night frosts spread over the month. When it snows, it rarely stays on the ground but it can be quite icy in the early hours of the morning so take your time if you happen to be outside at this time.
Averages
December is one of the coldest months of the year in Paris with an average temperature of just 5°C. At night, it can get very cold and the average low is around 2°C. There’s a good chance you’ll experience some rain during your stay since the region has 27mm of rain over 15 days of the month.
