What’s the weather like in Monte Carlo in January?
Monte Carlo is known for its sandy beaches and warm Mediterranean climate. The region experiences mild weather in winter with January being the coldest month of the year.
Geographical influences
Located between the Southern Alps in Monaco and the Mediterranean, Monte Carlo gets quite a lot of shelter from the mountains and warmth from the sea. This means that temperatures rarely drop below freezing and you can look forward to mild weather that’s pleasant and enjoyable. You should still pack warm clothes for your holiday and wear a jacket in the evening when temperatures have lowered and the winds are much cooler.
Averages
Monte Carlo weather in January is quite chilly at times but it’s often mild during the peak of the day with an average high of 12°C. Evenings are much colder, with temperatures dropping to 8°C. It’s the coldest month of the year, so it’s no surprise that the Mediterranean seawater is icy cold at just 13°C. 61mm of rain is expected to fall throughout the month with around six hours of sunshine per day.
