    Rome weather May

What’s the weather like in Rome in May?

Rome weather in May is very warm and sunny. It’s a great time to visit Rome because it isn’t as crowded as the summer and you’ll still get to soak up the warm, Mediterranean sunshine.

    Geographical influences

Rome is the capital city of Italy and sits neatly the western coast, where it’s in the path of cooling winds blowing in from the sea. The city is home to hundreds of tall buildings that actually help to trap the heat and keep temperatures warm throughout the month. There’s less rain in May than previous months, which means you might not see any rainfall during your visit.

The average rainfall is around 48mm, which means there are around seven rainy days spread over the month. Fortunately, showers are usually very short and light, which means you’ll have more time to soak up the warm sunshine. Temperatures range from lows of 13°C to daily highs of 24°C. You can expect 12 hours of sunshine per day and the sea is warm enough to swim in, with an average water temperature of 19°C.
