What's the weather like in India in May?
A huge country with landscapes to suit all types of holiday, India is a truly unique destination. There’s different weather as you go from coast to city and mountain to desert, but it’s summer in May so the country is generally very hot this month. Wherever you visit in India at this time of year, make sure you protect yourself from the strong sun and stay hydrated by drinking lots of bottled water.Averages
Goa is one of the best places to go in India for a relaxing beach break and has an average temperature of 30ºC in May. There are highs of 33ºC and lows of 28ºC, so high factor sun cream and air conditioning are essentials for your holiday. At 30ºC, the warm waters of the Arabian Sea are lovely for swimming and snorkelling. The wet season begins towards the end of the month, which means Goa expects just over 110mm of rain over four days. It’s much drier in New Delhi in the north, which has around just 13mm of rain in May. Temperatures are hot, though, with an average of 33ºC and highs reaching 39ºC, so take good care in the sun.
