What's the weather like in Banff in August?
Banff is a spectacular resort town, found in south-eastern Canada’s Rocky Mountains. Popular as a base to reach a number of fantastic ski resorts from, it has freezing cold winters and warm summers. Temperatures are at their warmest in August, but while the average high reaches the mid-twenties, it still gets very chilly at night. You’ll need to come prepared with plenty of warm clothes if you visit at this time, as well as lighter layers for activities such as hiking and mountain biking during the day.
Averages
In August, the average temperature in Banff is 16ºC, rising to a high of 24ºC in the hottest part of the afternoon. Don’t forget a thick coat for evenings out in the town, as the temperature drops to a low of 7ºC after dark. It’s worth bringing a waterproof jacket too, as there’s around 60mm of rain forecast over 12 days in August. You can still look forward to plenty of blue skies at this time, though, with Banff having seven hours of sunshine each day on this month.
