Iberostar Selection Anthelia is a 5 star all-inclusive hotel in Costa Adeje, Tenerife that has won over 20 awards. It boasts a state of the art spa, rooms designed for children, as well as kids’ pools with slides and a pirate ship. It is just metres from the long and sandy Fañabé Beach, with its calm waters, palm trees and bars.

Iberostar’s Star Camp programme allows the little ones to have fun and make new friends with other kids in their age group. Teenagers between 13 and 17 can join the Eagles, an interactive space where they can experience thrilling adventures. Zeus buffet restaurant offers themed international buffet dinners with smoked dishes, cold meats, seafood, cheeses, roast meats, salads and tasty desserts among the options available. For afters, watch the chefs prepare hot desserts right in front of you, that is if you’re not distracted by the chocolate fountains.

Being a 5 star resort, you aren’t limited to one place to eat. For dinner, you could reserve a table at the a la carte Poseidón Gourmet, where the head chef Jose Miguel Barrera and his team use only the finest local ingredients to prepare mouth-watering dishes. These include an ingot of foie gras with spiced bread and braised sea bass on a bed of baby beans. Please note Poseidón is closed on Sundays and Mondays. Alternatively, book into Portofino, where you can savour their focaccias, bruschettas, mozzarella, fresh pasta and seasoned meat and fish dishes. Portofino is open Thursday to Monday.

The Barbacoa Grill Restaurant provides an additional choice for lunch, while the Zumería Pool Snack Bar offers light bites between meal times. In the evening, relax on the sofas of the Hall Bar with a cocktail and enjoy the live music performance.

Standard rooms are equipped with a double or twin bed. If you want to share one of these with your little bundle of joy, a cot or a third bed are both available options. Relax on your private balcony with a fresh coffee from the machine in your room, or view the entertainment on the 49” smart TV. You will also benefit from free WiFi, a chromatherapy shower, an iron plus bathrobes and slippers. For families with older children, interconnecting rooms and suites are available. The latter is split over two levels, the living area on the lower floor includes a sofa bed. While you’ll also benefit from your own whirlpool bath.

If you want to experience the underwater world, there’s diving schools nearby. These offer a range of lessons and experiences for both newbies and those who want to learn more. Children will relish a day trip to the nearby Thai-themed Siam Park, boasting a range of slides, rides, a water market and a lazy river.
While you’re in Tenerife, you can’t miss Mount Teide, the highest point on the Canaries, with a 3,750m summit. Make sure you check out Paisaje Lunar, it may look like a structure belonging on the moon but it was actually created by volcanic activity.
