Monchique Resort & Spa
Monchique Resort & Spa is the only resort in this undiscovered area of Portugal that combines local hospitality and modern design with unspoiled surroundings and breath-taking views of the mountains and coast. Situated 7 km from Mochique city center, 20 km from the beach and 77 km from Faro Airport.
Facilities and services include 24 hour reception, restaurants, bars, swimming pool, laundry service (extra charge), spa facilities (extra charge), indoor pool (extra charge), parking, fitness room, kids club and wireless Internet access.

Suites feature wireless Internet access, safe, balcony or terrace, telephone, coffee maker, air conditioning, television, hairdryer, dining table, living room and bathroom.

“An incredible stay.”

Honestly, what an amazing stay! Monchique is up in the mountains of the Algarve, with a focus on nature & wellness. We chose this as we really wanted a spa experience – something I’ve never really had in a stay before – but also the location was super different compared to the rest of the Algarve. Monchique Resort & Spa is an all-suite hotel, which means all rooms have a fully equipped kitchen, which as a celiac this is a pretty important feature when I’m travelling somewhere new. It had everything we needed: oven, tea & coffee, all your kitchen cooking & dishware needs, dishwasher & fridge. We had two – TWO – bathrooms a separate family room & separate bedroom. The room was super spacious & clean. The resort itself was fantastic, and we didn’t even get to explore everything since we were only here for 2 nights. We did however experience the spa and what a treat. We chose a ghassoul clay ritual, and it comes with a 2 hour spa circuit. I don’t have photos from here but it’s a truly luxurious & relaxing experience especially after a long travel day. Monchique also has an abundance of included activities. We had time for both a yoga & meditation class, but there were so many more things we wish we had time for. Walks, cocktails, hikes and even family movie nights. On the food note, I would absolutely recommend this to fellow celiacs. They have both half board, full board & full all-inclusive packages available. We did half board, so breakfast was included. We were able to meet with Chef Diego on what was safe. He assured me they could make whatever I wanted safely in the back kitchen, and to not hesitate to ask. Breakfast was a buffet with lots of options – including prepacked GF options and a dedicated toaster! We only had breakfast & drinks here, but we ate very well and I would absolutely return based on their accommodations for celiacs. I also want to mention the staff. It is rare to find a place that truly makes you feel at home. Every single person we saw greeted us, asked us if we needed anything and it actually felt genuine that they wanted to make your stay better. Joao took us to our room and was a gem of knowledge & stories while showing us around, and with recommendations up in the mountains as well. But everyone was lovely. Overall, Monchique was absolutely one of the best – if not the best – hotel experiences we have ever had. An incredible property tucked away in the mountains. If you are ever in the Algarve, this is a must stay.

“Don't miss a visit to the spa”

I have stayed here several times and its always a great stay. Friendly staff, spacious rooms, good amenities and lovely food. I want to make a special mention to Anabela from the spa. She made me feel so comfortable and relaxed and I had what I can only describe as an amazing exfoliation and massage treatment. I told her I sometimes have anxiety and she went out of her way to make me feel relaxed and did everything to make it a perfect experience for me. I will definitely be booking in for another treatment with her when I am back next. Add the spa circuit in when you book a treatment to make it even more enjoyable.

“Amazing - well worth the 5 stars”

We went to the resort in September. Right from the outset despite arriving at midnight the reception staff were fantastic. My son had left his phone in the taxi and the wonderful gentleman on reception took my taxi paperwork and sorted it out for me. Knocking on the door shortly after to deliver my son's phone back. The room was the best family room we have stayed in and the 2 bathrooms a rare and wonderful find helping us all get ready to enjoy our time. The cleaning staff were brilliant. Even cleaning the room in the morning following our late arrival. There were plenty of loungers available and the kids were never out of the pool. Now for the food and drink! I am coeliac and vegetarian (not an easy combination to cater for) but as soon as I made it known the staff were incredible and I was very well looked after. Gf pastries each morning and individually made plates at lunch and evening meal. Extra special thanks to Lily and Adrienne for their incredible hospitality and this feeling even more special that it was never an issue for them. Even the 'lemonades' were amazing, no fountain drinks here but pestle ans mortar mint, sugar and lemon concentrate and soda. My husband returned on the first day saying 'that bartender really takes care when making your drinks'. In short we all had a wonderful time and were so sad to be leaving. I don't return to the same place but I would make an exception here. We loved it. Thank you Monchique staff you are amazing and fully deserving of 5 stars 🌟 xxx

“Another superb stay”

We had a wonderful stay at Monchique. Always a pleasure to return to this hotel. The staff are wonderful, the breakfast is superb and the suites are lovely and very comfortable. The schedule of activities is outstanding and we love going to visit the spa too. See you again in a couple of weeks!
