Vitors Village

Vitor's Village is in Ferragudo, a traditional fishing village by a river estuary on the Atlantic coast of Portugal, between Lagos and Faro. The area is part of the west Algarve, known for its sandy beaches. The hotel has a garden, a sun terrace and two outdoor pools where you can join in with aqua aerobics. There's a gym and a spa, with massages available, plus table tennis, pool and darts. Hotel staff organise weekly entertainment such as karaoke and magic shows, and the hotel has three bars and two restaurants. Ferragudo has whitewashed fishermen's cottages, cobbled streets and an old lighthouse with views over the Atlantic. There's a selection of restaurants around the quayside where you can try the local seafood. You could take a walk along the banks of the Alvor River. The nearest beach, Praia Grande, is within walking distance, and the hotel also has a shuttle bus that runs from the hotel to the village and beach, as well as to the neighbouring Pintadinho and Caneiros beaches. Praia Grande is popular for windsurfing and is overlooked by an old fort, while Pintadinho is a sheltered, sandy cove with a lighthouse. Caneiros beach has dramatic rock formations and a popular restaurant.
The hotel is 500m from the centre of Ferragudo, while the nearest beach, Praia Grande, is 1.5km away. The larger resort of Portimao is 2.5km away, and from here you can take a boat trip to the famous Benagil sea caves. There are a couple of water parks in the area, and four golf courses within a short drive. The clifftop town of Carvoeiro, overlooking a sandy beach, is 6km away. From there you can walk down a series of cliff steps to see the Algar Seco rock formations up close, then enjoy a meal at one of the many traditional restaurants, where grilled sardines are a speciality.
The buffet restaurant is open for breakfast, with international dishes which you can enjoy in the outdoor seating area. You can have lunch and dinner at the a la carte restaurant, and there's a kids' menu with familiar favourites. There are three bars, including a pool bar.
The hotel organises children's entertainment five times per week, including arts and crafts, drama and sports. There's a separate kids' pool and a playground.
Rooms at Vitor's Village have individually controlled air conditioning, Wi-Fi and a flatscreen HDTV with satellite channels. There's also a microwave, fridge-freezer and electric hot plates.
