You can expect to be greeted with a glass of wine (or non-alcoholic beverage) on arrival. The children can make friends at the kids’ club, complete with ball pits, toys, slides and more. While the grown-ups may wish to take part in a tequila tasting session. There’s no shortage of places to swim onsite either, as there are ten pools.
Generations Riviera Maya is dedicated to using green, fresh, sustainable produce and are happy to show guests around the 76,000 sq. ft. hydroponic greenhouse, allowing you to see first hand how the delectable flavours used in the resort’s cuisine are cultivated. Meanwhile the children can take part in a Little Eko Chef workshop, giving them the opportunity to learn easy and delicious recipes.
The Chef Market is a family-friendly restaurant, offering world-class cuisine and breathtaking views of the Caribbean. There’s no need to get up early to have breakfast here, as it’s served until 11:30am. While if the children say “I’m hungry”, they only have to wait until 5.30pm for dinner. Or, if they can’t wait that long, Palms offers fresh grilled seafood from 11:30am until 5.30pm. Those travelling without little ones may relish a meal from the Wine Kitchen Restaurant, where the dishes perfectly accompany the range of international vinos on offer.
Feel like you’ve been transported to another part of the world at Habb, where you can sample a wide variety of Indian dishes. Here, you may wish to try the biryani or butter chicken. For a less specific destination there’s the pan-Asian Jade, offering the best cuisine from China, Korea, Japan, Thailand and Vietnam. Why not order the shabu-shabu to share with your family or friends?
The Swell Swim-Up Bar serves a variety of virgin cocktails, fruit drinks, as well as ice-cold beers and premium alcoholic beverages. The Sling Cocktail Lounge is open to families until 10pm, when it becomes an adult only venue until 2am. It has a relaxed atmosphere and offers great views whatever time of day it is.
An entertainment programme offers fun and exciting activities both during the day and at night. If you prefer to take it easy there’s a library and reading area. But for the ultimate relaxation you should visit the spa. Here you may choose to take part in the water journey ritual. Start in the sauna and steam rooms, before a refreshing shower. Then move from the whirlpool, to the polar pool and finally the sensations pool. You may wish to finish off with a natural refreshing drink.
The air-conditioned suites all feature a large balcony or terrace, a relaxing hot tub for two, a 47” smart TV, a hair dryer, plush bathrobes, slippers, a safety deposit box, an iron and a pillow menu. Each has either one king sized or two queen beds. The telephone isn't just for ordering room service either. You get unlimited international calls, so you chat to Gran about how fabulous Mexico is for as long as you want.
The youngest guests aren’t overlooked at Generations Riviera Maya. Baby food, bottle warmers, cribs, strollers and changing tables are among the amenities on offer to care of your little bundle of joy.
If you have brave children they can meet the crocodiles at the nearby Croco Cun Zoo. While teenagers and young adults might enjoy the thrilling activities on offer at Cenote Sol y Luna, including quad biking, zip wiring and paintball.
Generations Riviera Maya Resort is located around 50 minutes’ drive from the city of Cancún, where you may choose to explore the Maya archaeological sites. For those interested in learning about this historic civilisation, you might wish to consider a full day trip to Chichen Itza. You don’t need to go searching for places to visit though, as the Great Mayan Reef is right on the hotel’s doorstep. The concierge can arrange a scuba diving experience for you.
