The hotel Scirocco St. Julian's Affiliated by Melia is situated approx. 200 m from a beach. The town Valletta is around 8 km away (Mdina around 13 km, Three Cities around 10 km). A supermarket and other shopping facilities can be reached after 200 m. In the evening, you can go dancing in a nightclub in the hotel's surroundings. Further entertainment facilities such as a cinema and a theatre are approx. 200 m away. The following attractions can be reached from the hotel: Capital City (approx. 8 km away), Three Cities (approx. 10 km away), Sliema (approx. 4 km away), Mdina (approx. 13 km away) and Gozo (approx. 35 km away). For mobility during your holiday, there are a taxi rank as well as a bus stop in a distance of around 200 m, a car rental company and a motorcycle rental. “Nice hotel surrounded by construction site”

We spent a week at the Scirrocco Hotel at the beginning of October. The hotel was compact, clean and the staff were very friendly. I dont normally write reviews but I feel people should be made aware of the construction work on both sides of the hotel. There were also cranes situated outside of the hotel for the duration of the holiday, making access difficult. We were moved to the top floor due to being woken every morning at 7am. I would recommend the hotel, but maybe give it a while whilst the work is completed.

“Avoid this lovely hotel if you like sleep!”

We have just returned from a week at this hotel, if you like sleep avoid it, from noise from other residents returning at 2, 3, 5am and the noise echoing through the stairwell to being abruptly awoken at 7am with work starting on the next door building site on the other side of our bedroom wall, hammering, drilling etc. This was every day apart from Sunday, and it continued until at least 5pm with the odd hour of respite! I feel bad giving a bad review as the hotel and its staff were lovely, the rooms were clean and modern, and once the building work ends in a few years it will be amazing. We started off on the 2nd floor and after complaining were moved to the 8th floor, which was a little quieter, but still were woken too early! I completely understand that this building work is out of the hands of the hotel, but if we had been aware of the extent of the building works we wouldn’t have chosen the Hotel Scirocco.

“Rude female staff member and told to keep the towels clean”

My 19 year old daughter and friend stayed here. They found the hotel not too bad, but was spoilt a little by building work and heavy loads dangling over the pool. The pool is under a metre deep so more of a paddling pool than a swimming pool. They were unable to sunbathe as there were only about 4 sun loungers in the hotel. They were told if they got make up on the towels they would be charged. The irony of this was, the photos of the towels were already stained, threadbare and holed. I’ve never heard of people being warned about towels at any hotel. The male receptionist was reported to be lovely but the female with the short hair was miserable and not very nice. My daughter had went to leave the hotel with her bikini and a cover up and was told that she would get fined ‘looking like that’. Then went out and seen other people wearing bikinis. Didn’t seem like the floor was ever swept / mopped in the room either. Sounds like the hotel has potential as she didn’t mind it too much but wouldn’t return due to the unpleasant female staff member, tiny pool, lack of space to sunbathe and fear of getting a dirty mark on their already old towels.

“Amazing staff, comfortable beds overall 5 *”

The location was great a short walk from the bay on one side and the nightlife on the other. There is lots of regeneration happening in Malta generally but this didn't interfere with our stay at all. The staff were wonderful, helpful and kind. The rooms are quite compact but provide everything you need. We were quite comfortable during our stay. The breakfast was far better than expected with a mix of cooked items and continental options. The use of the heated pool at the mistral hotel is great and perfect to relax in after a busy day walking around. The gym has enough equipment to do a basic work out but prepare to do lower weights but more reps. Overall we were very happy and would stay again.

“Week stay”

There is building work next door which is brutal however if you are out all day it isn't so bad however I HIGHLY recommend the hotel regardless of that. The staff are amazing, the rooms are extremely clean, beds very comfortable & the breakfast is very good. It was constantly topped up. The hotel clearly is well managed. There is a plunge pool however it is freezing but you can use the sister's hotel pool which is a 2 min walk that is heated. Location is spot on for the restaurants, shops and bus stop.
