Tunisia tops Thomas Cook’s list of best-value winter-sun destinations
120% YoY rise in longer winter breaks as Vietnam and the USA emerge as surprise affordable options
New data from online travel agency Thomas Cook has revealed a major shift in British winter holiday habits, with bookings for winter-sun breaks longer than 15 days up 120% year-on-year.
The analysis also ranked the best-value destinations for winter sun between November 2025 and April 2026, based on average booking values to destinations known for their warm weather and sunshine.
Tunisia takes the top spot as Thomas Cook’s best-value winter-sun destination for the 2025-26 season, followed by Spain and Malta.
Thomas Cook’s top ten best-value winter-sun destinations are:
- 1. Tunisia
- 2. Spain
- 3. Malta
- 4. Italy
- 5. Morocco
- 6. Cyprus
- 7. Portugal
- 8. Turkey
- 9. Egypt
- 10. Canary Islands
Just outside the top ten were Greece, Vietnam, the USA, India and Cape Verde - all increasingly popular for holidaymakers seeking winter-sun getaways further afield without breaking the bank.
Nicholas Smith, Holidays Digital Director at Thomas Cook said:
"Tunisia’s combination of warm weather, great resorts and unbeatable value has made it a standout choice this winter - but what’s really interesting is how many customers are opting for longer holidays at this time of year, with Brits looking to stretch their time and money further in the sun.”
