Sunday scrollers: Thomas Cook reveals the nation’s favourite day to book a holiday

Sunday takes more bookings than any other day of the week

Monday and Tuesday follow closely behind

Couples are most likely to book on a Sunday

79% of Sunday bookings are for four- and five-star properties

New data revealed by online travel agency Thomas Cook has revealed that Sunday is officially the most popular day for Brits to book a holiday in 2025.

The analysis, based on thousands of bookings made through Thomas Cook’s digital platforms this year, shows that more people secure their next getaway at the weekend than at any other time. Interestingly, Monday ranks second most popular day to book, with Tuesday following closely in third.

When it comes to who’s booking, couples are leading the Sunday surge, with more than half of bookings (55%) made by pairs.

Across all Sunday bookings, there’s a clear trend towards quality and relaxation. Nearly eight in ten holidays (79%) booked are for four- and five-star properties, reflecting a strong desire for luxury among UK holidaymakers.

All-inclusive remains the board basis of choice for Sunday bookers, making up 43% of total packages booked. Additionally, 74% of all bookings made on a Sunday are across beach destinations - suggesting that Brits are dreaming of sun, sea and sand when the weekend arrives

Thomas Cook’s top booking days in order are:

  1. Sunday
  2. Monday
  3. Tuesday
  4. Wednesday
  5. Saturday
  6. Thursday
  7. Friday

Most-booked hotels on a Sunday:

  1. 3* Hotel Alexander - Krakow, Poland
  2. 5* Mitsis Selection Blue Domes - Kos, Greece
  3. 2* Laguna Park 2 - Tenerife, Canary Islands

Nicholas Smith, Holidays Digital Director at Thomas Cook, said:

"With Sunday often seen as a slower, more reflective day for many, it makes perfect sense that so many Brits use that time to plan and book their next getaway. What’s interesting is that this enthusiasm carries into the start of the week too, with Monday and Tuesday proving to be popular days to book a holiday - showing that the mood doesn’t fade once the weekend is over.”
