Thomas Cook Holiday Rewind: Online travel agency reveals its biggest holiday trends of 2025

Mediterranean Dominance: Greece secured the top spot as the most-booked destination

Shoulder-Season Shift: September was the most popular month for departures

Forward Planning: Maximum lead time of 463 days was recorded, with one customer booking a trip to Venice in September 2026

Emerging Destination: Albania, with package holidays starting from just £136 per person

Thomas Cook has revealed its standout booking trends from its 2025 holiday sales, highlighting a continued appetite for value-driven escapes, long-haul adventures and emerging destinations.

Greece has been revealed as the most-booked destination overall in 2025, while Krakow claimed the top spot as the online travel agency’s most popular city break destination. The USA led the way for long-haul travel, with customers keen to tick off bucket-list cities, natural wonders and world-renowned attractions.

Holidaymakers showed a clear preference for comfort and convenience, with all-inclusive holidays proving the most popular board basis and four-star properties the most frequently booked hotel category.

September was the standout departure month, suggesting a growing shift towards shoulder-season travel.

Looking at some of its individual bookings, Thomas Cook revealed the highest-value holiday clocked in at £33,000 for a luxury trip to Mauritius, while the largest group booking saw nine passengers travelling together to Turkey.

Planning ahead also featured strongly, with the longest lead time recorded at 463 days for a trip to Venice in September 2026.

The online travel agency has pinpointed Albania as a destination to watch in 2026,  with package holidays starting from just £136 per person.

Alan French, Chief Holidays Officer at Thomas Cook, said:

"2025 has been a strong year for holiday demand, with customers continuing to prioritise value. We’ve seen growing confidence in booking further ahead, alongside increased interest in emerging destinations, and we expect that appetite to continue as we move into the new year and beyond.”
