    Djerba weather May

What's the weather like in Djerba in May?

Thanks to its superb Mediterranean climate, the weather in Djerba in May is hot, sunny and dry. It’s a popular time to visit this amazing Tunisian island before the peak holiday season begins, as temperatures should be over 25°C throughout your relaxing beachside stay.

    Geographical influences

Djerba enjoys a year-round warm climate because it’s located close to the southern coast of Tunisia in the Mediterranean. Its temperatures are slightly warmer than resorts to the north, such as Port El Kantaoui and Sousse. The gentle breeze around the Gulf of Gabe is very welcoming, as the sun shines brightly for over ten hours each day in May.

Many people prefer the Djerba weather in May compared to the very hot summer months of June, July and August in Tunisia. The average temperature will be 27°C, sometimes dipping to 18°C when it’s not quite so sunny. The famous Tunisian sunshine should see around 11 hours of sun each day. If you’re a fan of making the most of sunbeds and time at the pool or beach, the sun rises at 5am and doesn’t fade until 7.15pm at the end of May. Cooling off in the Mediterranean will be very appealing, as the average water temperature’s 20°C. Chances are you’ll see no wet weather on the island in May, as just 9mm falls on average. The UV level’s medium and humidity will be around 67%, but carry water with you and take care in the afternoon sun.
