What’s the weather like in Bulgaria in May?
Bulgaria is in Southeast Europe and has quite dynamic weather. In general, you’ll find that things are getting better across the country in May as summer gets closer and you’ll get plenty of sun if you’re heading to the popular Black Sea coast. The Balkan Mountains run east to west through the middle of Bulgaria, which means you’ll be warmest and driest in the south. Destinations on the Black Sea have rain all year round, although there’s much less over summer.
The average high in Burgas is 21ºC in May, which is great for relaxing by the pool or on the beach. You should bring some warmer clothes for the evenings though, as it can get quite cool once the sun goes down. The sea temperature is 16ºC, while humidity’s low. There’s 48mm of rain over eight days, and 15 hours of daylight with eight hours of sunshine each day. Make sure you pack plenty of sun cream UV levels will be high. Sunset is at 8.10pm at the start of the month, and gradually gets later.
