What's the weather like in Bulgaria in March?
Located in the Balkans along the Black Sea, Bulgaria is becoming a popular sunshine destination. Its climate is influenced by the country’s mountainous regions, along with winds blowing from the continent and the Mediterranean Sea, with March being quite cold in comparison with the warm summer months. If you don’t mind the cool temperatures and want to avoid the high season crowds, March can be a good month for exploring the sights across Bulgaria.

In March, Bulgaria is quite cool with average temperatures in Sunny Beach hovering around 7°C, and highs of just 11°C in the afternoons. At night temperatures are even colder with lows of 3°C, so you’ll need a winter coat and warm layers for evenings out. Just 40mm of rain is expected this month, making March quite dry, with around seven showery days during the month. If you want to swim in the Black Sea at this time of year, you’ll need to be really brave as the waters are chilly at just 9°C.
