While this stunning resort might be famous for its fabulous, sun-splashed beaches, Marmaris’ nightlife is one of Turkey’s best kept secrets. Unlike other parts of the country, the nightlife Marmaris keeps hidden in its winding maze of whitewashed streets isn’t advertised. Instead, the pubs, clubs and bars trust holidaymakers to spread the word about the warm Turkish welcome, the top-notch DJs, and the buzzing club scene. And now, we’ve let you in on the secret, too.
There’s much more to the Marmaris nightlife than thumping techno and hardcore house music. Families and couples who want something a bit more low-key will find plenty of venues where you can sit and enjoy some traditional Turkish music and boggling belly-dancing displays, with a cheeky cocktail in hand.
Bar Street Marmaris
To kick off your night out, you’ll want to know where the best Marmaris bars are tucked away. Luckily, the resort has made it easy for anyone to find them: Bar Street Marmaris is where you’ll find the liveliest watering holes, which are open through the day and don’t close until the early hours of the following morning. Look out for the B52 bar, which has an open bar with no roof, and you’ll find the dancing spills out onto the main drag. The Crazy Daisy Bar and Nightclub, also located on Bar Street Marmaris, is also worth hunting out. Top DJs are spinning tunes on the decks, and with dance shows, themed nights and parties, it’s like someone’s taken the best bits of Ibiza and put them all in one building!
However, while most bars and clubs play crowd-pleasing disco, dance, techno and house music, Bar Street Marmaris is nothing if not eclectic! If you prefer the clang of guitars to the thump of euro-beats, keep your eyes and ears peeled for the Rock Bar. A staple of the Marmaris nightlife, the Rock Bar does exactly what it says on the tin: plays good, old-fashioned rock, until the sun makes its way back over the horizon.
Marmaris also has a buzzing gay scene. Among the Marmaris bars you’ll find Rumours, which has all the camp, glitz and glamour needed for a great night out. Expect drag queens, camp comedy shows and dazzling dancers, set in simply fabulous surroundings.
Keeping it low-key
If you’d prefer something quieter out of your Marmaris nightlife, head towards the harbour, where you’ll find authentic Turkish restaurants and friendly bars playing traditional Turkish music while belly dancers shake their stuff.
With so much variety to be found as part of the Marmaris nightlife scene, you can make your nights out as full-on or as laid-back as you want them to be.
