Visit Fethiye from Kalkan

Just over an hour's drive away from Kalkan is the stunning resort of Fethiye. A long stretch of soft sand and shallow, crystal clear waters make up a glistening cove that reflects the mountainous backdrop. There are lots of things to do in Fethiye, from exploring the many ruins and the beautiful countryside to shopping in the local market. Kayakoy; the lost ghost town of Turkey should not be missed when visiting the area.

The 19th century abandoned town has around 500 houses and Greek orthodox churches, which gives a detailed insight into the importance of the desolated past of the area. Visit the museum or browse in the market and have fun haggling with local traders who sell everything from fresh food and spices to handmade clothing and souvenirs. Enjoy a meal in the centre of town and if you're lucky, witness the Fethiye fountains light up and dance to the music that accompanies the flashes of colour.
