Elba Lucía Sport & Suite Hotel
Located in Fuerteventura’s Caleta de Fuste, this resort offers the best of both worlds. The well-equipped apartments provide all the amenities you would expect if you book a self catering stay. But on top of that Elba Lucia boasts a buffet restaurant, bar and sports centre. You’ll be just a short walk from spectacular cliff and coastal rock formations and when you fancy sunbathing on a sandy beach, the hotel’s complimentary shuttle will take you to Castillo Beach. Children will be taken care of at the kids club, giving parents the chance to relax.

Elba Sport Centre caters for lovers of tennis, badminton, squash and basketball. For an individual workout you can hit the gym and of course swimming is always an option, with separate outdoor pools for children and adults. For those who just want to chill, the snack bar is open from 11am to 6pm, giving you the opportunity to enjoy a cocktail or a bite to eat, as you kick back. While in the evenings, the indoor bar serves coffees and stronger drinks.

The buffet restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner, dishing up Canarian favourites, international cuisine and yummy child-friendly options that will have little mouths running back for more. If you plan to eat here ensure you pack something suitable to wear, as going sleeveless is not permitted but knee-length shorts are fine.

Studio apartments cater for up to two adults and one child, they are equipped with a living area and terrace. While the kitchen features everything you need to make your own dinner, including a microwave and fridge. Standard apartments can accommodate either three adults and one child or two grown ups and two little guests.

Elba Lucia Sport & Suite Hotel is just a 25-minute drive from the Guise y Ayose viewpoint, overlooking the Betancuria Natural Park. Guise and Ayose are the names of two kings who have been immortalised in statue form on this spot. If you prefer to exercise in the wilderness, there are numerous hiking trails to choose from. While if you’re lucky, you might see a bird of prey swoop down or barbary ground squirrels dashing across the orange landscape. The squirrels are commonly referred to as chipmunks but they are actually an African species that look similar to their North American counterparts. For the less active, there’s a cheesemaking museum, while Ecomuseo De La Alcogida demonstrates what village life was like on the island in the 19th century.
