Mitsis Grand Hotel

Located at the most northerly point of Rhodes, Mitsis Grand Hotel has views of the sandy shores, the azure Aegean and even the coast of Turkey. One of the benefits of staying here is that the All Inclusive service is 24/7, so you can relax and not worry about keeping an eye on your watch. Separate swimming pools are available for both the adults and children. And if you haven’t swam in a while, you can get some refresher lessons first. A further pool is available in the spa, where you can also book massages and a range of treatments (for an additional charge).

There’s a wide range of activities designed to keep the kids out of mischief, including drawing, face painting, pizza making lessons and films. The hotel also organises trips to the nearby aquarium for no additional charge. For the grown ups there’s aqua fit, yoga, boccia, dancing lessons and an outdoor gym. Alternatively, you can create a team with your friends or family to attempt to break out of the Escape Room (surcharge applicable).

The main restaurant has lengthy opening times, making Mitsis Grand Hotel a great choice for both early birds and night owls. The early breakfast service starts at 4am, while between 10pm and 4am a light buffet is available. And you can order room service between 7am and 11pm. While if you’re going sightseeing you can request a snack box, so you can eat on the go. A range of light bites are also available on site including burgers, pittas, pizzas, ice creams and cakes.

For a more formal dining experience, there’s a choice of a la carte restaurants. Ellinadiko (open from 1-9pm) serves Greek favourites like moussaka and giouvetsi stew. While Tex-Mex dishes up spicy favourites like fajitas and quesadillas. Alternatively, reserve a table for dinner at the Italian where you can choose your favourite pasta, pizza or risotto, before devouring a pistachio praline cheesecake, topped with red berries. And to complete the collection there’s the Pan-Asian where sushi, duck and crab are all on the menu.

The air conditioned rooms are equipped with a bathtub, a 32” TV with satellite channels and a minibar (restocked every other day). Singles have a garden view, while some twins and suites have a view of the sea. If you’re travelling with a little guest you can request a cot or extra bed.

The Old Town of Rhodes is just over 1km away. Here you can wander the ancient streets and see the different styles of building, each telling you something about the history of the island. The Knights of St John built the first settlement around a small port and expanded it during the 13th century. Today you can see the remains of castles, temples and fortifications. But if you don’t want a history lesson, there are plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants too.

Rodini Park is also in the area, which dates back to Roman times and claims to be the first landscaped park in the world. With paths arranged around a stream, it’s the ideal place to escape the heat, where you will be joined by some feathery friends including peacocks.
