Gentilini Winery & Vineyards

For an afternoon with a difference, visit the family-run Gentilini Winery & Vineyards where you'll be taken on a fascinating tour. Find out how organic Kefalonian wines are made, from the management of the vines right through to bottling, finishing up with a chance to sample the delicious wines.

You'll be warmly welcomed by the friendly staff as you arrive at the winery. Your tour guide will introduce you to different grape varieties as you see the vines, the grape press, the storage vats and even the wine testing laboratory.

At the end of the tour, you'll sample the wines in the shady outdoor tasting area, alongside a spread of traditional snacks including olives, breads and cheese. Before you leave, remember to take in the ocean view before browsing the winery shop. The wines are very exclusive, with just 50,000 bottles made each year, and make a great souvenir.

You can also buy the Gentilini grape oil here. Located near the village of Mina and overlooking the sea, the easiest way to reach Gentilini Winery and Vineyards is by hire car, but make sure you have a designated driver.

Alternatively, take a tour from your hotel so your whole group can sample the wines on offer. The vineyard is a five minute drive away from Lassi, close to the airport on the western coast of Kefalonia.
