Athina Hotel is located in Sami and 50 m away to the beach, 26 km to the airport (EFL), 1 km to the city/town centre and 24 km to the town Argostoli. “Very basic accommodation”

A very basic but clean hotel. The best thing is its location right on the coast and next to the 5 star Ionian Emerald hotel which Athina customers can use - pool, beach, sun beds, towels, bars. The Athina has lots of steps throughout, no lifts so not easy for those with limited mobility. Breakfast was the same every day, processed cheese and ham, toast, boiled eggs, bananas. The best part of breakfast was the Greek yogurt and honey. The shower was a small shower tray with a curtain around 2 sides,not great. The bar allows people to smoke inside so not to our taste. Wouldn't stay here again but would certainly go to the Ionian Emerald.

“Simple but special hotel”

First impression was that the room was very small and basic, but once we saw the view from our balcony we were sold! The hotel is in a great spot - the beach is only a few metres away as is the Ionian Hotel where you have free access to the pool, sunbeds and pool bar. Sami. the nearest bigger resort is a lovely 15 minute walk away along a path that runs adjacent to the beach. There you'll find many restaurants and shops and a gentle buzz. Makis, the Athina Hotel owner, really makes your stay a treat. He's like an old friend from day one, and nothing is too much trouble. All in all, a wonderful stay.

“Wonderful holiday and we will be back :)”

This is our second time visiting the hotel and again we had a lovely holiday. Makis is very friendly and accommodating and adored our little 3 year old boy. He would go out of his way to say hello to him in the morning and even bought him some teddies and a race car. One evening our little boy was really poorly and Makis ordered us a taxi to the hospital straight away and even stayed over at the hotel in case we needed him in the night. He even paid for our son’s medication in the morning. An amazing man who genuinely cares about people and their children. So if you’re thinking about a friendly place to stay with little ones I would recommend this hotel. We can’t wait to go back next year! It’s also got great views. A lovely pool and lots of local places to eat.
