Parc de la Villette in Paris

For a unique evening of entertainment, go and watch a film outdoors at the largest park in Paris, Parc de la Villette. If you’re visiting Paris during the summer months, go along to the city’s open-air film festival, Cinéma en Plein Air, to watch classic films and recent releases while relaxing in this beautiful urban parkland.

Before watching your film, go and explore Parc de la Villette. Walk along the canals, visit the Science and Industry Museum, or take the kids to see the ponds and burn off some energy at the playgrounds. There are several themed gardens, including the Dragon Garden and Mirror Garden, which are worth a look.

The park’s also home to the Museum of Music and the Géode, a huge orb-like cinema with 2D and 3D showings. As the daylight begins to fade, walk back to the open air cinema.

Entrance to the cinema, which is open from mid-July through to mid-August, is free, so you’ll have good company from both locals and tourists. Arrive in plenty of time and bring a deckchair or picnic blanket so you can sit comfortably on the lawns in front of the big temporary screen.
