Overlooking the Red Sea, this 5 star, family-friendly resort is located 15km south of Hurghada Airport. Jasmine Palace Resort boasts a wide selection of pools, an aqua park, beach dining, a spa and a gym. For the more adventurous, professional trainers will teach you to dive or engage in water sports.

Children aged 4-12 can join Tom & Jerry’s World, where they can engage in arts & crafts, cooking, games, sports and swimming. Later on, they can become lions and tigers as they roar to Katy Perry at the mini disco. Meanwhile older guests can enjoy performances of traditional music, live shows and a nightclub.

The main restaurant, Dunnes, serves international specialities and offers a choice of indoor and terrace seating. If you arrive late in the evening this won’t be a problem, as the dinner service extends until midnight. Staying for at least seven nights? Om Ali Oriental offers an a la carte, beach dining experience, allowing you to indulge in the harmony of the chef’s sophisticated and inventive creations with the background sound of the waves. While at Jabur Indian, maybe feast over freshly baked Naan bread and Chicken Tikka Masala? You’ll also have the option of dining at two further a la carte restaurants for a surcharge - Ma Mia Italian and Tiger Lily Chinese.

Jasmine Bar is open 24 hours a day with all-inclusive drinks available from 10am to midnight. Between these times hot beverages are available. Further bar options can be found poolside, on the beach and in the lobby.

Standard rooms are a generous 33m2 and boast a furnished balcony, a king sized or twin beds, plus a sofa bed. Guests can choose between smoking and non-smoking rooms. The family option features two different sleeping areas and can accommodate four people (up to three adults). If you choose to upgrade to a suite, you will benefit from your own jacuzzi.

Jasmine Palace Resort is just 20 minutes from Mini Egypt Park, a collection of 60 sculptures recreating historic monuments in Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor, Edfu, Giza and many more. So you can visit the whole country (in miniature form) in a day.

The nearest city is Hurghada, under 30 minutes away. Here you can attempt to negotiate a bargain at the market. If you wish to go quad biking in the desert, this is a good place to pick up a headscarf. But you won’t need one if you instead opt for a dolphin safari.
