Currency in Albania

The Albanian Lek (ALL) is the official currency of Albania. Banknotes come in denominations of 200, 500, 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, and 10,000 lek, while coins have values of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 lek.

Credit and debit cards are accepted in many hotels, restaurants and larger shops, particularly in Tirana and Durrës. However, cash is still king in rural areas and smaller businesses, so it’s a good idea to carry some on you. ATMs are widely available in urban areas, but make sure to withdraw enough if you’re heading into more remote regions.
