If the prospect of a solid few months of shivering in the wind and rain fills you with dread, a sunshine holiday in October is a great way to give you the boost you need to make it through until Christmas. Whether you’re looking for a family half term getaway close to home or want to explore faraway shores, our list of the top October sun destinations is for you!

1) Egypt (average October highs 34°C)

Holidays in October are all about escaping the grey UK to soak up the rays and splash in the waves. And where better than Egypt’s famed Red Sea resorts such as Hurghada and Marsa Alam? It’s the perfect place for people who love the beach - from stretching out on the sands to snorkelling in the unbelievably clear waters.

If that’s not enough for you, there are also plenty of shopping spots, buzzing bars and mouthwatering restaurants dishing up everything from local specialities to international crowd-pleasers. Or how about a bucket-list day trip to the jaw-dropping Pyramids of Giza?

2) Florida (average October highs 29°C)
