New booking data from Thomas Cook reveals a surge in demand for trips to Ireland, with bookings to the Republic of Ireland up 53% year-on-year.
The online travel agency says Dublin is proving particularly popular ahead of St. Patrick’s Day, with nearly a quarter (24%) of all bookings departing in March.
Based on bookings made over the past 12 months for travel between 1 March 2026 and 1 March 2027, the figures show the Irish capital remains a firm favourite for short city escapes - particularly for adults looking to experience the world-famous celebrations.
Weekend trips dominate travel patterns, with more than a quarter (28%) of bookings departing on a Friday, allowing holidaymakers to make the most of a long weekend in the city.
Short stays are the most popular choice, with two-night breaks accounting for 41% of bookings, closely followed by three-night stays at 40%.
The data also reveals that the vast majority of travellers heading to the Irish capital are adults, with 95% of bookings made without children - reflecting the city’s reputation for lively nightlife, historic pubs and a vibrant festival atmosphere during the St. Patrick’s Day period.
