What’s the weather like in Santorini in August?
Located in the Aegean sea off the coast of Greece, Santorini is one of the Cyclades Islands with rugged landscapes and quaint seaside towns. With its lovely Mediterranean summers, the island’s a popular holiday destination at this time of year. Beautiful sunshine and warm seas mean the weather’s perfect for exploring the local sights or simply relaxing on the beach. Occasionally the Meltemi winds blow in from the sea, causing quite breezy conditions.
Averages
In Santorini, August days average around 27°C at the start at the month, cooling by a degree or two as September gets closer. With highs of 30°C the weather is still very hot, so make sure you regularly apply sun cream, stay hydrated and seek shade in the peak of the day. At night the temperature falls to around 24°C, so evenings are still mild enough for summer clothes. No rain is expected in August, with the highest chance of wet weather at the end of the month. If you’re planning on spending lots of time on the beach, you’ll have around 13 hours of daylight each day and sea temperatures of a warm 25°C.
